LMAC-FreeStyle-N92-BlackOnWhiteOnBlack.jpg

The LMAC Community run by @shaka holds a weekly collage contest round for its members. In the Community, you'll discover a variety of themed contest entries submitted for consideration. If selected for the final round, contest hopefuls anxiously await results indicating where their placement that determines the prize amount. It's a fun contest that any Hive member can participate. If you'd like to join in, just visit the LMAC Community account here and follow the rules of the contest for details on the latest contest.

The LMAC Community also offers an opportunity for members to create and post in the Community "freestyle" collage themes. In the freestyle option, more freedom is allowed to design your creations without having to incorporate the weekly contest photo. However, contest rules still apply.

For my Freestyle Collage No. 92, my theme is "black on white on black". I chose black and white to depict activity in the shadows of a bustling city.

In preparing my theme, I wanted to focus on shadowy figures in the night. Not all that happens at night is dark and foreboding. Enjoyment in the dark can take place just as well as in the light.

To create my shadowy play hour, I utilized the LMAC Contest photo from Round 209. Added to the image of buildings, in the background as part of the skyline I wanted a shadowy female figure to overlook the city.

To assist the female, an all-seeing eye is activated to capture the nighttime activities. The female overlooking the city will, occasionally, slip from the skyline and join in the activities below.

Below are the additional images I included to add gaiety to the night scene. Some activities are odd occurrences, such as the woman slipping from the skyline to join in the activities.

When compiling my freestyle collage design, I upload the images to Canva, my design program. I use this program as my primary source to blend the images. Below are the procedures I use that incorporate the tools at my disposal in my Annual Pro Membership Subscription.

To a blank canvas, I added the LMAC contest photo with the buildings.

Resized the buildings to fill the screen. Removed the background, then colorized the buildings in classic black for the night theme.

Added the shadowy female. Resized it to fill the skyline.

Placed the 2nd female in the water. Removed background; flipped her to appear she was the same female. Constructed a garment from the shadowy woman to fit the other female.

Added the eye. Removed its background. Colorized it to fit the dark theme. Resized, then repositioned the eye in the center of both women.

Added the boy and Egret. Removed backgrounds; resized and positioned.

Hello, it's true, not everything dark has to be sinister...
You know, I have a doubt: a collage is about superimposing and combining photos??? And so take a photo?

Yes, it take a photo. However, a collage can be a collection of any mixed media art, including video, gifs, crafts. I just happen to like working with different type photos. I have included animation in my collages.
