The prompt for today reminds me of an unpleasant time in my youth when I was at odds with a close friend. My mother, however, didn't see any justification in my reluctance to make amends. She just didn't understand the situation or how I felt when a boy was involved. Ridiculous now when I think about it, but at the time, it was devastating. I share this similar microfiction story for the prompt "greeting the unwelcome" that's told as a ZAPFIC50 flash fiction in exactly 50 words. The challenge was created by @felt.buzz.

Below is my story.
Yolanda stood fidgeting all afternoon intermittently staring our her window. Fists balled tight, she waited for best friend Justine.
Shoulders heaved and nostrils flared remembering Justine holding Michael's hand.
Suddenly, Justine came into view. Yolanda rushed from the house and landed a surprise punch.
"Apologize young lady!" Yolanda's mother declared.

Yolanda permaneció inquieta toda la tarde mirando intermitentemente por la ventana. Con los puños apretados, esperaba a su mejor amiga Justine.

De repente, Justine apareció. Yolanda salió corriendo de la casa y le propinó un puñetazo por sorpresa.
