In My Mind's Memory | A Mixed Media Art Project
For my current mixed media art project, I envisioned a theme of memories. What we experience remains with us for a lifetime. Memory is the mind's faculty by which data or information is encoded, stored, and retrieved when needed. Over time, it's the retention of information for the purpose of influencing future action. Traumatic events are one type of memory that is painful to recall. However, individuals can learn from these situations. It may be necessary to recall them for a variety of reasons. For example, if we couldn't remember an unpleasant or horrific experience, we wouldn't know to avoid it in the future.
Likewise, pleasant recollection of past actions or events give us pause to reflect and rejoice in those situations. The birth of our children, "first steps", graduations, marriages, and many other achievements are part of our history and life story. We can then recall the events plucked from the corners of our minds while alone or with others in social settings. A common expression in a group of people is "remember when".
If past events could not be remembered, it would be impossible for language, relationships, or personal identity to develop.

I share with you a design I created that reflect my interpretation of memories.
In designing my project, I first retrieved a diffusion image from one of my favorite stable diffusion programs, Night Cafe. The image of a woman dressed in red is simple, but elegant. I envisioned embedding the image inside another face.
Below are my procedures:
Night Cafe Text input:
"Beautiful female with horns, wings, red eyes and red lipstick facing forward full facial feature photo-realistic and elegant."
Weight: 1
Model: Stable Diffusion 1.5
Style: CKPT
Initial Resolution: Thumb
Aspect Ratio: 1:1
Runtime: Short
Seed: 530607086
Overall Prompt Weight: 50%
Sampling method: K_LMS
Night Cafe Result:
Other images I included in my design were an unusual black and white face,lips, and two of my beautiful pure fractals I created in the advanced fractal rendering program, Apophysis 7X.
Man's black painted face ~ Lips ~ Pure Fractal titled "City In Green" ~ Pure Fractal titled "Strings Gone Wild
I then utilize Canva to blend the different type images. Below are my steps in which I begin with a blank, white canvas, then added layers of elements, removing backgrounds, resizing, and repositioning items as needed.
- To a blank, white canvas, I added the black and white face;
- Duplicated and resized the face to fill in the canvas;
- Added the female; removed its background; then
- Added lips and resized them to the porcelain's face;
- Added my two fractals; Resized and repositioned them, one on the nose and the other on the sides of the head.
