Key To An Adventure | A Mixed Media Art Project for INKTOBER 2024 PROMPT [#6 - Trek]

I'm back again and excited to share with you my interpretation of the InkTober Prompts. For this project, I'm tackling Prompt #4 - TREK. In developing the theme, I decided to embark upon a journey into the unknown. Lured by a heroine the young girl admired, she leaves her idyllic homeland to pursue a life of adventure. Her nightly dreams of a beautiful sea pirate tempts her fearless nature.

Her name is Myceline. She is brave. She is strong. So she stuffs her backpack with only the necessities for trekking across the country toward the coast. Her family pleads with her to reconsider the path she's chosen. But the smell of the salty sea pulls her away from their cries.

She treks along the path until it ends, then detours past the verdant fields until the rugged terrain of the mountains make it difficult to proceed.

Wiping the sweat from her brow, she forges ahead over the peak until she arrives at the shore. She waits for her heroine to appear.

Up from the depths of the sea, the heroine rises. Staring back to see whether her calls have been answered, she spots Myceline.

Extending her hand, she carefully guides her young apprentice to an adventure that awaits.

Below is my project for Inktober Prompt #6:

My approach to this prompt was to create a scene that reminds one of a journey across a vast distance to reach a desired destination. A free-sourced image from Canva was perfect that depicts a young girl facing mountains. Behind her is a field of flowers that symbolizes she's moving away from a pleasant environment to a harsh one.

But beyond the harshness is her dream as she encounters the female in her dreams that will lead her on an adventure. The image of the female is also a free-sourced one I discovered where the woman appears to rise from the waters.

I utilized a stable diffusion image from StarryAI as the background for the beautiful home the girl is leaving to explore the unknown. Below are the steps to producing the image. I feel that the placement of the fantasy home in the scene, then duplicating it felt as though one was stepping out of a magical place.

Other images I included were birds inside the portal to another land to complete the scene that mesmerizes the girl.

I then uploaded my images into Canva. I use this program as my design studio to blend the images and create an awesome scene. This program affords me the tools in my upgraded Annual Pro Membership Subscription to resize, remove backgrounds, colorize, filter, and reposition my images. In addition, I have at my disposal the free templates and elements to create the backgrounds from my scenes or add additional images. Below are my steps in pictures.
