An interesting set of prompts for 11 - 15. Let's see what I can develop from them. I'm always game for trying something new, so prompt 11 presented a great opportunity to experiment with a program I've been reading about.

Below are the different sets of images I retrieved from various stable diffusion programs, StarryAI, Night Cafe, Deep Dream Generator and a surprise generator.

Prompt 11: Try A New Generator or Model

For this prompt, instead of a new model, I opted to try a new generator. I'd read about IDEOGRAM in several Hiveans' posts, especially @eve66. Her results were amazing, so I decided to give the program a chance to see whether my second-rate text descriptions were enough to work magic.

Sadly, I still haven't developed the expertise to effectively produce awesome results I see in others' designs. My vision was an advertising billboard seeking massage clients from weary highway drivers. I chose the first image to use as my sample. Overall, I'm pleased with the result.

Prompt 12: UGLY

For prompt no. 12, my purpose was to retrieve an image that the program's data input categorized as being "ugly" or distasteful to the eye. I must say that I wasn't shocked at the result, just disappointed. So I input another text description for the same program to define it's view of "beautiful". Next, I went further to see what the result would be for "beautiful and ugly at the same time."

This exercise revealed for me a long-known concept of the fact that no matter whether it's AI or not, a human has to input the information for the computer program to interpret. It only spits out what it's been fed.

And that's a sad thing to see because you can clearly distinguish the basic facial features for the person the system determined as "ugly" to be that of an African American male or a person of color. The result speaks for itself.

Although the program used the following revised prompt, I didn't indicate in my initial prompt whether the subject was male or female.

Prompt 14: LOVE

For prompt no. 14, I wanted to portray a raw version of love, not some flowery concept of everything nice and bright. The prompt is a guide to my thinking on how the outcome would look.

Prompt 15: Inspired by Book/Film

For prompt no. 15, my vision was to create a replica, but transform the character to a female, of the poster from one of my most beloved films, VERTIGO.

Vertigo is a 1958 American psychological thriller film directed and produced by Alfred Hitchcock. The story was based on the 1954 novel D'entre les morts. The film stars James Stewart as John "Scottie" Ferguson, a former San Francisco police detective who retired after an incident in the line of duty caused him to develop an extreme fear of heights, accompanied by vertigo. The lovely Kim Novak, one of Hitchcock's favorite female blondes who starred in several of his films, portrays Madeleine, the wife of an acquaintance.

Scottie is hired as a private investigator by a college friend, Gavin Elster, to follow and report on Madelein's strange behavior. Scottie accepts the job and follows Madeleine to the grave of Carlotta Valdes who died young in 1857 and was buried at a San Francisco Mission. He continues to follow her to an art museum where Madelein stares at a portrait of another woman, Carlotta.

Attempting to piece together the strange behavior, Scottie consults with a local historian who explains that Carlotta Valdes committed suicide after engaging in an adulterous affair with a wealthy man. Apparently, she bore him a child, but the man discarded her and took the child causing a distraught Carlotta.

It's a strange movie with numerous twists and turns as Gavin believes his wife Madelein is possessed by Carlotta, who is Madelein's great-grandmother.

After several incidents, Scottie and Madelein become romantically involved. That's when Madeleine begins to act strangely, running into the church and up the bell tower of the Mission.

Since Scottie now thinks he's in love with Madelein, he tosses aside his vertigo and runs after her, risking his own life. It's when Scottie witnesses her fall to her death that he becomes unhinged.

However, all the happenings are a ruse to cover up an elaborately-planned murder scheme by Gavin and co-conspirator, Judy.

Scottie becomes clinically depressed and is committed to a sanatorium. Following his recover and release, he frequents the places that Madeleine visited, often imagining that he sees her. One day, he spots a woman named Judy who resembles Madelein. He pursues her until she forces her to confess the murder scheme.

Apparently, July is a doppelganger for Gavin's wife, so she impersonates her for a price to help Gavin cover up the murder. Gavin knew from college that Scottie had vertigo and wouldn't be able to follow his wife up the bell tower. In the scheme, Gavin kills his wife and places the body at the bottom of the bell tower.

Scottie forces Judy to confess. She's distraught, and runs up the bell tower, then falls to her death. Real this time. The incident cures Scottie of his vertigo, but leaves him distraught over his love for Judy.

The pivotal moment in the film is truly the ending where Scottie stands on the ledge of the bell tower staring down at Judy's dead body in shock while the nun rings the mission bell. ¹

In designing my version of VERTIGO, I compiled several different type images, including a stable diffusion image for one of the females from Deep Dream Generator. The other images I include are free-sourced, and two of my pure fractals I designed in the advanced version of the fractal rendering program, Apophysis 7X.
