Ms. Shark USA | LMAC Collage FreeStyle No. 105
I wanted to share with you my Freestyle Collage No. 105. My theme is "beauty pageants". My approach to this theme was to highlight the industry as a whole.
The LMAC Community run by @shaka holds a weekly collage contest for its members. In the Community, you'll discover a variety of themed entries submitted for consideration. If selected for the final round, contest hopefuls anxiously await results indicating their placement that determines the prize awarded. It's a fun contest that any Hive member can participate. If you'd like to join in, just visit the LMAC Community account here and follow the rules of the contest for details on the latest round.
The LMAC Community also offers an opportunity for members to create and post in the Community "freestyle" collage themes. In the freestyle option, more freedom is allowed to design your creations without having to incorporate the weekly contest photo. However, contest rules still apply.
Please visit the Community page for any questions on how to successfully publish in the LMAC Community.
The beauty industry as it pertains to pageants is not only a cutthroat business for the contestants, but a declining entertainment and economic venture. The competition is fierce, even for children who enter the contests at a young age. These children are taught to appreciate and flaunt their bodies and exterior appearance.
But the underlying issue is society's concept of "beauty" and how it's interpreted by pre-determined standards, which the general public has gradually moved away from.
As society embraces the female in a new light, where does that leave the pageant industry with its outdated approach and standards?
In the U.S., the beauty pageant organization has been mired in mismanagement, a hostile working environment, accusations of cover ups in dealing with reporting of situations in which women encounter unwanted advances, title resignations by at least two winners in the past two years, and declining interest by the general public.
However, if utilized way, beauty pageant contestants and winners can influence the general public's perception of the events. They can also promote worthy charitable causes and bring attention to social issues they feel are important.
Since they have a visible platform with which to bring the messages, perhaps society will view the pageants differently as being of some value other than showcasing women and girls' bodies in an attempt to define how true beauty should be evaluated.
If such changes do occur, perhaps I may return to watching them with some semblance of being worth my time.
In preparing my theme, I wanted to showcase a unique image by the LMAC in its Round 285 of a shark-like face painted on the front of a vessel. I paired it with a female that I felt represented a model posing for an event. Other images include creating a stage for the model in which I utilized two images contributed to the #LIL. The image by @alex2alex made a perfect stage backdrop for the pageant.
If you notice, I made bracelets for both arms and created a shark crown from the LMAC shark ship!

When compiling my freestyle collage design, I upload my images to Canva. It's my design program I use to blend my images. Below are the procedures in pictures I use to layer the elements that incorporate the tools at my disposal in my Annual Pro Membership Subscription.

Thanks so much @itcouldbecloud for stopping by. I appreciate it and am so happy to hear you liked my freestyle collage. This particular collage was created as a freestyle and not for the weekly contest. The LMAC Community is currently on Summer break. When they return, the contests will resume, but I continue to publish freestyle creations whenever I have spare time.
I appreciate you stopping by and your support. Take care.
Your creativity is top notch
I love how you combined them all together
You’re doing well!
I appreciate your beautiful compliment @rafzat and am pleased you liked my freestyle collage. I try to combine a variety of mixed media to produce a quality project.
Thanks for your visit and support. Take care.
I like the juxtaposition of the shark face and the woman. Great commentary.
I can see pageant, but 'beauty' pageant? What is that? Why would we be judging anyone--man, woman, child--on the basis of looks? It's a meat market. Degrading to participant and observer alike.
It's a great collage. I wouldn't have understood it without your explanation, but once I read the explanation I 'got' it.
Have a great week, @justclickindiva.
Parents put their young children through hell and force them into this world. From the makeup, alluring dress, and modeling, these children are taught to act like adults when they don't understand the implications of what they are doing.
I agree with you on the "beauty" part of the organization to be judged on the basis of one's appearance is totally absurd.
I'm pleased you enjoyed the collage theme. I tried to construct a crown on her head to signify an event.
Take care.
Your creation depicts the beauty of the woman against the loss of respect actually shown to her.
Thanks for including my lil image of the moon. I like how it makes a nice background for the contestant. 😊
Thanks for your visit and thoughtful comment, which is so true of the industry. Take care.
