Often individuals have a difficult time hearing constructive criticism. They then tend to react in in irrational manner. Perhaps their reactions stems from other reasons not associated with the issue at hand. In any event, sarcasm can sometimes creep into their voices when communicating. It's no wonder the expected responses may come as a total surprise.
I share a microfiction related along this theme for the prompt "tell me something new". The story is a ZAPFIC50 that's told in exactly 50 words. The challenge was created by @felt.buzz.

Below is my story.
"What's the yelling for?" Allison shot back as she stepped from the bathroom.
"Nap, nag, nag. It's exhausting. Tell me something new!"
Disgusted with his lack of hygiene, stinky footwear, and dirty clothes piles, she unintentionally heaved a nauseating breath.
"I'm finished degrading myself for you. I can't do filth."
