Of Mind and Matter In the Carnival of Good and Evil | A Mixed Media Art Project

I don't even know where to begin explaining what was in my thoughts when I created this project. I can only say it was out of bounds searching for the truth in all things hidden. A normal mixed media art concept for my projects. But this one felt different. I do know that I love working with images of females. They are so versatile in depicting them in roles of good and evil. And everything in between.

I titled this one "Of Mind and Matter In the Carnival of Good and Evil". That about describes the mesh of elements. Below are my procedures for creation.

For my current mixed media art project, I located a beautiful image of a woman in which her hair depicts the use of Pointillism. In art, this term is used to represent the practice of applying small strokes or dots of color to a surface. Doing this will produce, from a distance, the effect that the strokes or dots visually blend together. I felt immediately an attraction to the evil side of the woman. I chose the particular filter because of the boldness as a background image. On first sight, I felt it would overshadow the female image, but I think it blended well and made the female outline more striking.

Below are my steps.

First, I retrieved the female image from Night Cafe. This program is one of the stable diffusion sites I utilize. I wanted the image in the style of the free-sourced female photo I discovered that has the Pointillism features. The following User Creation Settings are set out as follows to create the grainy image from the photo I provided:

I then added several other images, such as pure fractals and a mask to represent a carnival.

I began with the initial project, but wasn't satisfied, so I tried different combinations, adding on until I found the female and filter to create a harsh look.

On first application, the face is hidden from view. This represents the mind's unwillingness to acknowledge the truth.

In this version I wanted to show an attempt to emerge from the darkness.

This is the final version adding the female who suppresses the truth to prevent being exposed.

OR, she can just cast off her worries and set her conscious free.
