Of Water's Ways | A Mixed Media Art Project

Picture yourself on an island. A retreat you've chosen to regroup and reconnect with your inner being. You stare out over the water. Searching. Searching for some semblance of self. The stillness returns the stare. It whispers a soft wind that finds you and calms your spirit.

Are you content? I wonder. Or are you longing for an adventure in a far away place making new acquaintances and experiencing new ideas and languages?

The possibilities are endless.

For my current mixed media art project, I discovered an unusual photo of a female whose shadow broke the surface of the water. But it's the eyes that grab you. What is she staring at? I can't quit see what it is, but it certainly captured her attention.

So I surrounded her with elements such as my pure fractals created in the advanced fractal rendering program, Apophysis 7X and other images to bring out the gray tones against the black backdrop.

Below are my steps:

I utilized Canva, my design program, to blend the different type images. I leave with you my procedures which begin with a blank, white canvas. I then add layers of elements in accordance with my upgraded Annual Pro Membership that includes tools to remove backgrounds, resize, filter, duplicate, and reposition items as required.

Perhaps of all the tools, the ability to remove backgrounds thereby creating transparencies of the images is crucial to the blending process.
