Plum Island | A Mixed Media Art Project

Plum Island. Doesn't that sound delicious. I love the fruit, especially when it ripens to a soft mushy center. The skin is a bit tart for my taste, though. When it comes to the color Plum, my imagination can run wild with its hues from one end of the spectrum to the other. I love working with the color. It's versatile and blends wells with both light and dark colors.

Plum is not a true color. It's a variation of purple. Some classify Plum color as a darker shade of magenta.

With so many shades to work with whether warm or cool, you can't deny its rich and luxurious sense of beauty. The color that pairs well with Plum is green, since it's on the opposite end of the color wheel. Since both are colors found in nature, it would make sense they would pair well.

For my current mixed media art project, I decided to blend an awesome plum background with a female overlooking it. I named my project "Plum Island".** The verdant landscape is as alluring as the female adorned with purple hair.

To complete my project, I decided to utilize a generative art program, Nvidia Gaugan, to retrieve the landscape I wanted to showcase as my background feature. Below are my steps:

Of course, the free-sourced image of the female was captivating. Two other images I included lent credibility to the magical feel of the island.
