Wood's Aroma | A Mixed Media Art Project

My current mixed media art project focuses on my attempt at animation in a forest theme. An enchantress appears when least expected. She brings with her a secret potion. Once released, the aroma spreads throughout the forest. Its purpose was to ward off evil spirits lurking in the shadows.

Below are my steps:

In approaching my theme, I located a mixture of images, one of which was a dark landscape and stable diffusion images I retrieved from the stable diffusion program, StarryAI. I like working with stable diffusion as I'm able to mold the images to my specifications with the text descriptions I apply.

A forest scene and a dark, cloudy sky produced an awesome background in contrast. One light, the other dark. Once blended, they created a light skyline and dark landscape. The bottle provided the source for the aroma of the magical potion.

For the animation effect, I utilized Canva's advanced features afforded to upgraded members. The fading in and out I felt lent a magical quality.

I utilized Canva to blend the different type images. I leave with you my procedures which begin with a blank, white canvas. I then add layers of elements in accordance with my upgraded Annual Pro Membership that includes tools to remove backgrounds, resize, colorize, filter, duplicate, and reposition items as required. Perhaps of all the tools, the ability to remove backgrounds thereby creating transparencies of the images is crucial to the blending process.
