My Primary School relay race.
Greetings everyone!
One of my experience in a race happened while i was in Primary School.
I was in my final year in Kawefunmi Nursery and primary School in Sagamu,Ogun state. It was time for our annual inter-house-sports where we had five housess. I was in yellow house for the annual inter-house-sport. Several people where delegated by our house masters to participate in different sports such as basketball, football, volleyball,to mention but a few. I wasn't good in those areas but i was able to run a little bit. Since i was in my final year , and my team didnt have enough runners for the 4×400m relay race i was asked to participate in the competition. During that period , i was doing several exercises in other to come out on top as we had alot of other serious opponents from our opposition teams. I wasn't as fast as fast as other candidates from my team so i was asked to take the third leg in the relay race.
The day for the inter house came .The atmosphere that day echoed with joy, and the canopies were meticulously arranged for the five Houses of the College: blue, Yellow, Red,green and Pink creating a lively atmosphere throughout . There were so many activities which everyone watched and in which they participated. Even staff and parents weren’t exempted. As soon as it was time for the 400m relay race , participants from each houses where called upon to take their positions . I was scared while i was standing beside the boys in my position as that was my first time running in a competition. Afterwards, the referee said the words "On your mark, get set and on the go! He blew the whistle for the relay race to start. The person on the second leg was fast enough to pass the baton to me. I recieved the baton successfully . I ran for a while and i was second during the race out of 5 other boys from different houses .

The field wasn't a good one. Immediately i got to a certain place , i just slipped and ate the grass 😂😂. I was so embarrassed on that day but i had to continue in order for my house/team to attain atleast 3rd postion in order to be eligble for the medals. Luckily, i stood up and tried to pass the baton down to the last leg .
The boys name was Emeka (he was the fastest in my school at that time). I passed the baton to him late due to the incidence , since he was very fast he was able to attain second position(the first position was the green house).
In a nutshell, he made us attain the silver medals in the relay race at that time. After the relay race was over, i thought i would be scolded by my team/house masters and my other house participants but they calmed me down and encouraged me.
This is a part of my entry for the initiative of the #JuneinLeo prompt as organized by the @leogrowth team.*

I have watched the competition in an Inter-house sport only once. Where my mom used to teach. The relay was definitely filled with excitement as people would get up from their seat when someone is falling behind or getting the win. It was exciting
