En el Laboratorio, de Biología Espacial, el Doctor Suárez trabajaba sobre el comportamiento de las plantas traídas del Planeta Plutón. Las denominó los girasoles de cristal porque presentaban pequeños cristales de vibrante color rojo. Además, sus pétalos, emanaban una bella luz iridiscente desconocida para la ciencia. En una noche sin luna, revisando uno de los girasoles, observó algo inusual…Se detuvo a observar con cuidado… Quedó atónito. Un par de diminutos insectos pululaban en las muestras. Le recordaron a las cucarachas terrestres. De repente, esas mismas plantas, comenzaron a emitir destellos diferentes a los que él conocía. Al mismo tiempo se escuchó un ruido.., Una enorme nube de esa especie de cucarachas avanzaba al laboratorio. Suárez trató de matarlas. En ese instante ellas crecieron y se transformaron en seres coloridos que, se mimetizaron con las plantas que él estaba estudiando. Lo rodearon. Gritó de horror. Por un momento sintió que su vida corría peligro pero, las cucarachas mutantes, avanzaron. Se transformaron nuevamente y se abalanzaron sobre los rojos cristales de las plantas. Los rompieron en mil pedazos. Necesitaban de ellos para vivir en su nuevo hogar…Las plantas cobraron vida. Les reclamaron. Ellas, antes de salir de Plutón, habían hecho un pacto de convivencia con las cucarachas.

En ese instante emitieron unas luces, nunca vistas en el Planeta Tierra, junto con un chubasco de gas que se propagó por el laboratorio. El Doctor Suárez, desprevenido, no atinó a salir del laboratorio. Al día siguiente, cuando llegaron los otros científicos, encontraron el recinto lleno de cadáveres de cucarachas, cristales rotos y el cuerpo sin vida del Doctor Suárez.

Suarez tried to kill them. In that instant they grew and transformed into colorful beings that mimicked the plants he was studying. They surrounded him. He screamed in horror. For a moment he felt that his life was in danger, but the mutant cockroaches advanced. They transformed again and pounced on the red crystals of the plants. They broke them into a thousand pieces. They needed them to live in their new home...The plants came to life. They called out to them. They, before leaving Pluto, had made a coexistence pact with the cockroaches.

-They did not leave us alternative.... said the plants.

At that instant some lights, never seen before on Planet Earth, were emitted, together with a shower of gas that spread through the laboratory. Doctor Suarez, unprepared, did not manage to leave the laboratory. The next day, when the other scientists arrived, they found the room full of cockroach corpses, broken glass and the lifeless body of Dr. Suarez.
