I had just written a story with a theme of dreams and I found it funny because I was just talking with a friend about how dreams can be sometimes very direct, vivid, scary, and full of several distorted and disconnected figments. Weird scenes and events like taking animals, flying cars, and cities in a tree. Haha! I think that is the mystery of dreams. You never know what to expect or exactly why certain things are in your subconscious.
Sometimes, dreams are products of our consciousness and even subconsciousness. Products of what we consume with our eyes, minds, and hearts. More often than not, we do not even understand how other dreams came about. This brings me to my most vivid dream. It is one that I had just the night before this post.
I pondered moments unending as to why I would have such a dream. However, I’ll tell it like it is.
So in this dream, I was with my friends from secondary school. We were all gathered in a home that was my neighbor's. Tensions weren’t high although we were in an unusual situation. Something odd was happening but we weren’t sure exactly what it was. So we gathered and we waited.
The place we were in, I’ve lived there all my childhood. It’s an Army barracks where I was born and raised so It was so personal to me. I went to secondary school in the same place so naturally, all my friends were welcome to my home. I believe that it was in fact the reason we were all gathered in that place. Only that we weren’t as little as we used to be. We were all in our adult age.
So back to my dream. I received a call from a mutual friend and we then went outside the house. On the phone, she said to me, “The problem is that there is something in the air. It’s toxic and the air has been contaminated.” As soon as she said that, we began to smell something terribly bad in the air. We ran back inside, put masks on, and began packing our stuff in bags and getting ready to leave.
I decided to use the bathroom and I think that’s the longest I’ve ever had to go even in a dream. (P.S., whenever I have to go in my dream, I’m always pressed in real life and very close to wetting my pants. Hehe!)
My friend Amina kept standing over me. She had to go too so I asked her to use the bathroom upstairs and she did.
We packed and left. We then came to an empty yard where the military trucks were always parked. Many people were roaming. Some had backpacks like us while others were just aimless. As we gathered there clueless, we began to see them come out. Several soldiers were being wheeled out of the yard. They looked very strange and eerie. More like dummies and caricatures of their original selves. I should add that these were white soldiers on an African continent. That was the strongest part. An odd feeling struck my insides. I'm sure the others felt the same way.
Soon, I got a call again. When I got off the phone, I said to my friends, “They said, this is the reason for the smell in the air. They are creating these types of soldiers now and it is a prerequisite to join the military.”
And ladies, that was the end of my weird but most vivid dream.
When I awakened, I pondered for moments unending as to why I had such a dream. I hadn't watched or thought about anything related. I watched cartoons all night with my toddler. But I guess it is what it is. Dreams-rulers of slumberland.

I can say that it felt so at the end because the feeling was strange.
