Haunting! The suspense and tension in this story had me on the edge of my seat. I almost wished those pounding on the door were mischievous teenagers trying to play a nasty prank on the villagers. How will these poor people escape the hideous witches? Beautifully written! Thank you for participating in the Halloween Edition.

Thank you ! Sadly, most of them won't escape. The witches aren't the problem, it's the radiation blowing in on the east wind that's already killed them. The "witches" could be other survivors of the nuclear war, just closer to death and driven mad by the pain of their radiation sickness.....
