BALANCING THE SCALES: JUDGMENT ON ALCOHOL

I do not drink alcohol, I haven't drank in a very long time, to be specific I haven't drank in almost 10 years. However I do not judge those who drink alcohol in any way because I can understand that everyone should be allowed to live their lives as they deem fit without minding the risk or health benefits. With that said, if I am to be a judge with the power to ban alcohol for life, the sincere truth is that I wouldn't because if I do, I will be unjust and selfish. It will be me imposing my personal beliefs and principles on everyone not regarding how they feel about it making me a ditector. With the mind to do justice I will prefer putting laws in place regarding the consumption of alcohol and severely punishing rule breakers.

Alcohol in itself is good, but it is the usage that is bad, that is how cocaine is good, but the usage can be bad. So what do we do when people abuse good things, we punish them. We don't just punish them by arresting or persecuting them, we punish them by first reducing the production of these substances and having full control over them. Don't tell me the government already has these in place and it still fails, how many people have access to natural resources that the government doesn't know about… if the government can prioritize the security of these substances, I'm pretty sure it would be difficult to see them talkless abuse.

Alcohol can be medicinal as it can be used for pleasure. The law makes it prohibited to step on a nation's currency, why can't the law take extra steps in monitoring the way alcohol is consumed. Although this doesn't mean people won't find their way to using and abusing, the abuse rate would drop by more than 70% I'm sure of this. So instead of banning alcohol, here's what I will do. First I will ensure that alcohol is only served publicly and anyone having alcohol privately without a license will be questioned and prosecuted for doing so. Secondly, I will ensure that only a certain percentage of alcohol is produced and purchasing more than the minimum a person is required to consume will be seen as a criminal offense.

Let's say a person can only purchase 5 in a week after following certain procedures, I know there are those who like to bend the rules here and get more than what is allowed, that is when we treat them like Americans treat those who don't pay taxes. I know I'm speaking of boring laws here, but I believe these laws would fetch out alcohol addicts who truly abuse the drink. I would also like to add honoring those who follow the rules to the bare minimum. It doesn't have to be a monetary reward, a presidential announcement and recognition of good character is enough recognition I think would even become some people's dream.

You do have a point where you said that alcohol is not all bad as it has some other uses but in many, many cases the bad effects of alcohol outweighs the good effects which is why it needs to be reduced drastically.

But the use has made the bad outweigh the good... Thanks for stopping by

If only this can be applied maybe there would have been balance on how the consumption of these substances. The abuse is something else that we don't see the positive effective. Like you say, some of them are medicinal but the pleasure makes so many go extra to consuming bottles without considering their health. With the high level of abuse and the high negative effects, for me, banning them for consumption do not mean the government dictators rathers ones that value the health and well of the masses. Well written.

You actually do have a point.
Alcohol has its advantages and also it's disadvantages.
It now lies on who and who is using it to their advantages or their disadvantages.

I like your opinion and I like the fact that you don't judge people because choices differs and everything God created has its good use, it's just that people will always abuse the intake of both alcohol and other things.
Abuse of alcohol is not good for the body but they will keep on abusing alcohol.

You have a great point of view here, well I think it's learning to balance it all, moderation should be the key.

Very well said. The key is moderation. Because an excess of anything is bad for the body so banning alcohol completely coz of its abusers would be very unfair.

Yes, I agree. I know alcohol is medicinal because some years back, it was alcohol they gave me to cure me of one particular illness….was it chicken pox or something like that.

Excessive consumption of alcohol is injurious. It is good that the people are reminded of this constantly just it is printed on the pack of cigarettes that smokers are liable to die young. If the government can put measure in place to checkmate the abuse, it will be great.

If these rules could be applied then they would surely be a reduction in the rate of substance abuse.
