FEED THE WORLD

What made me stop eating cucumbers was when I witnessed how a lot of farmers plant cucumbers in a very unhealthy way. When we talk about the scarcity of fresh foods, it's not just about fresh foods not being available in the market because there are not enough farmers, it's also about the fact that a lot of the foods produced through mechanized farming contain at least 50% fertilizers. In the bid to increase the harvest rate and also get big harvests, a lot of farmers now overuse fertilizers on both crops and livestock making fresh foods harder to get. Talking about how I witnessed cucumbers being planted, it wasn't a funny experience at all.

The place I was staying then had a lot of local farmers planting and selling in the market. Normally it would be advisable for us living close by to purchase from these farmers which would be cheaper, but after what we saw the farmers do to their crops, we decided to avoid the devil we knew. I witnessed cucumbers grow to full maturity in less than three weeks. It was a sad thing to see because it was clear that those local farmers could care less about how harmful the substances their customers were consuming. Now imagine someone hoping to buy fresh fruits come to the market and purchase from these farmers, that person would never know that they are eating 90% fertilizer.

This brings me to another reason I prefer buying my livestock fresh and killing them in my presence. As a matter of fact, it's hard to guarantee that those livestock are as mature as they look, or they have been fed with chemicals to make them big. So the safest thing to do is to have your life stock and train them yourself, then you can be sure whatever you are eating is freshly made. I've seen a lot of friends develop health challenges after they made money and started eating fast foods. This is because a lot of fast foods get fast to produce in crops and livestock so their customers tend to eat a lot of immature products unknowingly to them. Should I mention the fact that some of these big fast foods still add preservatives to their foods… so Imagine the weight of chemicals one person would be consuming from them.

In as much as mechanized farming has helped in the production of good crops, healthy crops should also be a priority if we want to really live long. If I had my way, I would go fishing and ensure I'm eating fresh fish, get my farm and ensure I'm growing healthy plants, and rear my livestock and ensure I'm eating healthy meat. With this process, I can be sure of everything going into my system, but since we don't know the chemical contents of what we take in, it's usually hard to keep track of these things.

A lot of the foods produced through mechanized farming contain at least 50% fertilizers.

This is very scary and sad, the only option is to produce what we eat by ourselves but then a lot of time we might not have access to land to practice that.

The rate at which we take in chemicals in the current way of farming is putting our health at risk but people seem to not care much about it.

What!!! People grow cucumbers in 3weeks??? Now that's very scary and unhealthy. Worst part is they don't even care about the consumers, all they can think of is how to make their profit, nawa oo

You mean someone grow and harvest cucumber 🥒 under three weeks? That's bad and harmful to the body. It should take at least four months
Growing our own crops and fruits is better but we can't grow all

The day I saw all this Aboki urinate in the same place they store their sugarcane.... That was the end of my sugarcane consumption.

It would have been best if we can grow our own food and hunt for our proteins, but sadly we can't do that a 100%. All we can hope to achieve is to at least thoroughly wash and cook before consumption.
