FIGHTING HACKERS
I’ve had to take courses on ethical hacking these past few months, and if i’m to be honest, I only understand about 20% of everything in the course curriculum. Probably because I’ve had to learn out of necessity instead of interest. To be honest, as much as I envy hackers a lot, I only ever wish to be a hacker in my imagination. As much as I love to analyze and solve problems, I feel the life of a hacker is just too boring. Not to mention the hours of screen time and the lots of codes you would have to study which happens to be the main reason I don’t want to be a hacker.
If I had started learning it as a child, I'm pretty sure the interest would be there as I had way less things to worry about then, unlike now where I have a family to care for and a future to build. The goal now is hustling so that life becomes more comfortable than learning a major skill from scratch. Today I ended a long series of strife between me and the company managing my company's ICT operations. My company has lost over $100,000 to hackers in recent weeks simply because the sole called tech company couldn’t do their job.
Since I joined the company in December last year, I’ve had to switch from full blown digital marketing executive to ICT operations after discovering that my company's website and hosting files were in jeopardy. Funny enough it had been going on for more than 5 years now, but the company could do little or nothing about it since there was no one to advise them on it.
This tech company however had been collecting money from my company but were doing nothing to secure the company’s server from attacks. Since March when I took over ICT operations I’ve had to battle major Hacker attacks, with my company spending nearly 2 million naira on security. But thinking about it now, what I charged them for security is merely a fraction of what the negligence of the company they were working with cost them. The real fight started when my company discovered today how much damage the company in question has cost them, and even though I don’t like to snitch, It was necessary to save the company.
