FINDING STRENGTH WITHIN
A lot of times I'm scared, not because there's always something frightening, but because this is life, and it's as though we're always fighting for something. I would say we are always fighting to make ends meet not just in finance but in all areas of our lives. When I was much younger I remember a sentence that stuck in my head from the famous cartoon series “Kung Fu Panda” The sentence says; “Courage is not the absence of fear, it's the master of fear.” I remember a lot of times when this sentence has made me do things I would not have ever imagined. Those were times when I needed to be courageous and even though it wasn't easy, I was able to pull through.

Being confident isn't being rude, proud or aggressive, for me it's finding the courage to stand up for what you believe. And this is something that's difficult for a lot of people. It's easy to air your views about things on the sidelines, it's easy to secretly talk about how you truly feel about people, it's very hard when you have to look them in the face and tell them what you feel. As a child I felt this would come naturally when I grow up, but as an adult I discovered I had a lot of growing up to do. You know what they say about bullies being the real scared ones, I wasn't a bully, but I always preferred to use my fist instead of my voice. But growing up I realized that that only made me more scared to use my voice because it's the real weapon of truth.
I've had to tell myself ‘“You can do this a lot of times, I've made decisions that were very dangerous but seemed to be the only way out. If it were left to me alone I wouldn't have, but because I knew I couldn't afford to remain mediocre, if I do not stand up for myself, no one would do it for me. This was something I wished someone had taught me, and when I became an adult I made it a duty to teach others. I remember the very first person I thought to stand up for herself was a young teenager who had faced a lot of sexual molestation and abuse that made her very timid. She had a beautiful voice, and a lot of other talents. I wouldn't want to go into details of how the whole therapy sessions went before she could find her strength, but today, she's becoming a successful chef who's also doing music.
There will always be risk in life, the ability to face them head on is what makes us strong. But being strong begins from drawing confidence from the fact that we can be more than who we are if we just push ourselves a little bit. This is not something that comes naturally to everyone, some people would have to say it to themselves like 1000 times before they believe it, and some just believe in themselves from the beginning. But like I said earlier being confident is realizing that you are more than what you have become which on the other hand builds your self esteem and makes you see yourself as you should.
