FIXING A BROKEN SYSTEM

We have a lot of abnormal people roaming the streets today not because they choose to be abnormal, but because the system is broken and it has affected their mental health and way of thinking. It would take someone with a proper upbringing who has decided not to give in to the pressure of the world system to keep a good percentage of their sanity intact. If we're all, to be honest, we all have that mad part of us we prefer not to keep in the open because we try as much as possible to be good people and being good in this case means holding on to our humanity and deciding not to do things that could hurt others.

But then some people do not care about these things because something went wrong with their mental health at a time in their life. Every criminal has a story to tell, no one was born a criminal, for some, it's a mental and psychological issue, and for others, it's a situational issue that has affected their psychological state of mind making them find a good reason to believe that someone deserves whatever inhuman act they unleash or do not just care what anyone thinks about their decisions to treat others inhumanly. And for the fact that they don't care simply means something went wrong with their humanity at a point in their life.

Now before I talk about what I think can be done to fix these people, I would first all like to point out that for us to reduce the number of criminals in our society, we will need to change the broken system that has made a lot of criminals. I'm talking about the system that makes criminals think they can get away with their inhuman activities and the system that weakens the law from apprehending criminals. A system that has put so much pressure on its citizens that has made some inhuman just to survive every day. A system that judges based on twisted facts instead of truth. This among many would need to be addressed if we need criminals off the streets in the next generation.

But what do we do to our already broken generation of criminals? For some rehabilitation could work, but for how long when they will come back to meet the same system that forced their hands in the first place? Of Course, rehabilitation is meant to build the mind of its patient to see things from different perspectives, but then true rehabilitation begins with the system that created the criminals. This doesn't mean if the system changes for the better criminals will be off our streets and society, but the margin would have reduced drastically. A human system can never be perfect, but at least let's treat the source before the results. In my opinion, there are some psychologically challenged persons whose mental conditions will not make them listen to reason and humanity, this kind of person should better be left in isolation as only a miracle might be needed to change them.

You've said it all, the system should be fixed, cause the kind of system we have in our nation isn't even working, they just apprehend criminals and ask for bail, I don't think we have a thing called rehabilitation in Nigeria sef

The system needs to be addressed. We need to consider the cause rather than being fixated on controlling the effects. You made a great submission, man.

Oh yeah, it's all boil down to the system.
Especially this era that every sector is politically corrupt

Honestly, no individual was born with the word criminal written on his forehand. A lot of circumstances influences the behaviour and actions of an individual which gradually boils down to him being termed a criminal. The rate at which our society contributes to the rate of crimes cannot be underrated. It's overwhelming!

I was wondering why you kept on saying our system, our system…. But it’s true
Our system is funny. There are programs for other people to get them jobs when they come out of prison or rehab.. but ours? Even the one with no record is jobless
