IN A WORLD OF MIRRORS

If you've read my previous posts you will know I have a dream of going into politics someday. It's a dream I carry with me to bed every day and wake up with every morning. But today I decided to ponder something very common among politicians, especially the ones who call themselves philanthropists. A lot of celebs also do it as well, but politicians have the lion's share in this especially when elections are drawing close. This makes me pose a question to myself, questions like what kind of politician do I want to be, would I give just to be noticed, if I give to be noticed what would be my aim, and if I choose not to let the public know about the help I render, how would it affect my political ambition.

We live in a world that isn't fair to anyone, and everyone tries to have an advantage with anything they do, including the good ones. I like to see giving and helping others as an investment, but one can never know when that investment would eventually play out. Showoff how ever is another kind of investment that is reaped almost as quickly as possible because it's simply fast racks the rewards but at the same time exposes the intentions. So to be fair I don't like show off, but sometimes it's necessary especially for politicians who might earn more votes during the elections. But then again, I imagine a politician who devotes to a life of helping others. Such a person would never be seen as a show off because their deeds would speak where their mouths can't.

I think a givers intention is seen in both the gifts and in the way the gifts are presented. For example I do not see any reason why a rich man would give his gateman a car and show it off on social media. It's nonsense because the gateman needs a better job so he can provide better for himself and his family and not a car. I do not also see why someone would visit the orphanage with goodies and take a picture only to post on social media, I see it as hypocritical. I do not think these people have love for the orphans, they just want to feed their egos. This is something we see a lot in our society. The only thing I can wave off is when scholarships are given to students and announced. I wave it off because sometimes it's good they say it out so they can be held responsible for their words later on.

Instead of announcing a lot of these silly things, I would prefer building a school for the orphans so they can have access to education or giving a certain number of orphans scholarships. Or announcing a scholarship scheme so that people can have a good education even though they can't afford it. Or announcing Job openings. These are gifts worth showcasing on social media and not those god forsaken pride of a thing they do to feed their egos and run for elections only to come back in another four years to repeat the same evil just because they think they can.

You have said it all. When elections are drawing near, politicians starts doing the unimaginable which doesn't even last, only just for the campaign. Few celebrities go ahead to do such and their aim is achieved at the expense of the other party's vulnerability.

It is very sad.

Truly sad indeed... But what can we do. The system itself is corrupted

The context of your perspective is indeed the truth, as accountability for this acts aren't judged int the court of law, we all have just grown think skin, biting our tongues. its insane.

It's just how the world works... but what can we do about it.

In the sphere of giving, it is actually difficult to see people give just for the love of it. It is most times to boost the ego and present oneself as the best

You are very much on point. People who broadcast their donations and good deeds for the world to see are more often than not doing it for the fame and whatnot.

On the other hand, creating valuable and valid opportunities for people can go a long way, especially in the world we live in.

Well said, but we can't correct this trending lifestyle. Even the ones doing it, they know it's not good but they can't help it because they want to gain fame, be recognised and earn as well.
My own is that, may I not get into such situation where I need to give to show off🤲
