IN THE SHADOWS
When it comes to marketing in web2 social media, you can be sure I will always be up for it any day anytime. Marketing on social media is something I do, and love doing. It can be challenging at times, but the thought of making content a lot of people will consume just makes me want to continue making it. But then I also love to be in the shadows while making these contents. I would prefer my anonymity that's why I will choose to work with brands and help them achieve their marketing goals to become an influencer with all the fame that comes with it. The fact that I will have to show up every single time or day for my fans already makes me tired. There are things I'm just lazy about. I can wake up one day and not feel like talking to anyone and if I would have to show up that day, I might say something that would make me go viral.
Influencers have to keep up and sometimes increase their energy in order to stay relevant. I see the things they have to do or feel they should do every single day just so they can always capture the attention of their fans. For me it's the fact that they have to put both body and mind to work in order to come out with something at all. I have no issue putting my mind to work, but putting my body to work is where I draw the line. There are always trends going on every month at least on the Internet, influencers have to be the first to keep up with those trends because they know their fans might just love to see them do so. In as much as they get to be the faces of brands to succeed, the thing about being a face is that the face must be kept fresh and that too takes a lot of work.
The reason why I love my job is that it gives me the opportunity to work with these influencers closely without stepping in the light. I'm more of an analyst than an action figure, not because I can't do both (on the contrary I can). But then staying relevant with one product or brand is something that is almost impossible. Influencers have been known to market things they aren't comfortable with and say lies just because of the money. Imagine an influencer advising a betting platform and telling you that it would make you rich, whereas they don't even know how to place a bet and talk less than analyzing a game. But for me who works in the shadows, I can only do the things I love and not have to give in to the pressure of staying relevant.
There was a time I tried out influencing, and to date it still is one of my biggest regrets after the platform I had advertised and brought in a lot of people duped me and the people I brought in. Obviously someone needed to take the fall, and who better to take it than the face of the brand. I hate controversies a lot, so when I was surrounded by loads of it, I was forced back in the shadows and had since been operating from there. Although it doesn't pay as much as being in the lame light, I would always prefer a good name to wealth and fame. Life as an influencer can be great, but with great power comes great responsibility, and that responsibility is not something I might handle very well.
