INDOMIE GENERATION WILL NEVER KNOW

Today I look at the children of these days and call them “INDOMIE GENERATION” because all they know how to do is eat indomie 😂. What I mean is they live a very easy life and would never enjoy some of the benefits of hardness. For those who went to public schools, clearing large portions of land with cutlasses and hoes was both punishment and fun. It's usually a punishment for latecomers and those who break school rules and regulations and at the same time part of the sporting activities for Friday. I have always had a soft palm, so I was always having injuries from clearing with Cutlass every Friday. My parents had written to my school for me to stop because the injuries were becoming too much but instead, I would go help my friends clear their portions and still end up with injuries.

My friends had to get me gloves so my mother wouldn't know I was still cutting grass in school, but whenever they forgot to come with their gloves, I ended up going home with injuries until my parents couldn't take it anymore and financially decided to get take me to another school. My new school was the school for the rich, but the children my age still love to have fun. We played at every given time, and even though I wasn't much of the talking type, I was either always on the basketball court or sometimes on the football field but almost every time we were playing. It wasn't just about the play, we would fight and no teacher would ever know what happened. A lot of times we will even sustain injuries, but you will never see us blaming each other because we wanted to play tomorrow.

I've broken six of my fingers and dislocated my knee in the process of playing basketball. I have injured myself a lot of times in the process of playing football, but every time I had these injuries, keeping the bro code was what mattered most. We would never snitch or mention who or what truly caused the injury. I see these generations who would cry when asked to kneel down in class without raising up their hands. They don't know what it means when your teacher draws a car on the board and tells you to push it😂. Those were the good old days. I'm not sure this generation will last one hour on a 30-acre land whereas, we would clear everything in a week and repeat the next week because the grasses grew almost every week.

But then again I give it to this generation, they have the ability to learn with anything they do. Imagine high school students building web applications for fun. Whereas I struggle to do it as an adult for pay. The exposure the Gen-Z’s get to make my generation look like embryos in the midst of children, but I would still say when children are talking Gen-Z's should keep quiet because they are adults. But overall students were students in my generation, today, children are adults in student form. If you know, you know. I drop the pen here.

It surprises me when sportsmen are sidelined for weeks to months for injuries we sustain and play the next day, lol.
Just like you, back then, I always sustained injuries but I went on to play the next day with no hindrance.
I guess we were lucky though and didn't suffer complications from negligence.

Ouch! A sad one. But if it still gives you pain after several years, I think it's reason to see your doctor except the pain is soo mild it doesn't disturb you.

It does sometimes... I've just been too reluctant to see the doctor

Lol really today's students are adults, they want to grow up so fast I think they might forget to enjoy their childhood. Sorry about your Injuries too, hope it no longer hurts?

That was that childhood full of scars, school education has changed now you can see the new generation fixing everything with technology and their phones. Although the times before were hard for many students, those moments were marked as the best moments of childhood, playing and sharing with friends, enjoying that time although the scars and the blows left their mark. Thank you for sharing your story.

Haha... you have done really well. Keeping the bro code is a nice way to go, and I am sure such attitude still sticks now. This generation? Meh...😆😆. They are doing well, too.

Those days when we will spread our legs, the wider the space between your legs will determine the width of the portion of grass you have to clear. Those were days when first to finish cutting his or her own portion of grass is a means to showcase who is boss 😂
