LESSON FROM A TRADER

div class=text-justify

I like to believe there are people who are born angels, and you can’t help but fall in love with them at first sight. If you are used to reading my post you would have probably figured that I’m a lover boy already. Not Because I have lots of lady friends but because I talk about love a lot. Yeah I talk about it so much that I love to love lol. But it’s not my fault, I can’t just help it when someone does something outside the box for me. It could be a guy or a girl. Love is natural and can be felt for anyone. This isn’t the romantic kind of love just so you know. But I’m not here to talk about love. Rather I am here to talk about how someone made me fall in love with her customer service attitude.

When they say attitude is everything, I like to say whoever brought up that statement was almost correct. Almost because attitude isn’t really everything depending on the circumstance that is. However, the circumstance I am about to talk about shows just how much attitude can make a difference. I remember some years ago when I was still pretty young and wild, I boarded a plane to school because it was a new section and I met a lady who sold jewelry. If there was anything that fascinated me about her apart from her beauty, it was her resilience and salesmanship. As young as she was it was clear that she understood what it meant to be professional and she was.

Mere watching her speak with other people and make friends with them it was clear she was intentional about her every move, up to the kind of topics she brought up. For example she talked about how her summer went (She was still in school by the way) which made most of the adults she was talking to complain about not having time for anything other than work. In 10 minutes this lady had closed deals and gotten a lot of contacts. I pretended not to be interested in their conversation when she said softly to my hear “this necklace will look good on her”. The thing was she caught me looking at my girlfriend's pictures and when I looked at the necklace she was talking about, it was really beautiful to behold.

But then I told her thank you, but I was going to pass. She just smiled and said Okay. Upon landing she noticed I was standing waiting for my school driver to pick me from the airport when she offered to buy me lunch. It was raining that day and the driver had called that he was still in traffic but will soon reach the airport. I accepted the offer, and that was how I got my girlfriend a necklace paying 25,000 for it and leaving me with only 5,000 naira for that week. She ended up feeding me for the whole week as it turned out we were in the same school doing our A-level program. But then her customer service attitude taught me a lot about marketing that I could never have learned from anywhere.

For bad experiences I have had a good number of them. The only thing is I try to avoid trouble by every means necessary so I walk away when someone is deciding that they want trouble. The last encounter I had was after I went shopping with my partner who wanted to get a new pair of shoes. I guess the Sales person was having a bad day and decided to pour out her aggression on someone and we just happened to be the lucky candidates. She first of all sized us up before giving us a price, and when my partner asked again for the price (which she is very fond of) she inflated it again as though we were deaf the first time. My partner wasn’t going to let her go that easily and was about to give her a piece of her mind when I just stepped in, held my partner and walked away. I had to make sure nothing of that sort occurred because I hate being the center of attraction in a quarrel, especially at the market or any public place.

This kind of uncomfortable situation that you went through with your friend is really something that bothers us a lot and we need to think twice before going back to a store that has terrible service. I have been valuing my mental health so I avoid this kind of thing by simply buying everything I can remotely!

Yes I like to buy remotely too, but sometimes buying remotely is expensive. So I had to get some things physically as to avoid paying extra fees

For me it's the opposite! Buying remotely avoids a lot of intermediaries and the cost ends up being lower. Even paying shipping!

I guess it's the differnce in our countries then
