MY JOURNEY SO FAR
It's been lots of weeks of learning for me. Finding hive learners was a miracle for me because I did not know what the hell I was doing on hive in my first seven months. Hive learners taught me 80% of the things I know about hive today, and even though I don't like it, I learned the remaining 20% from my experiences on hive especially my mistakes lol. Through Hive Learners, I've met some really cool and interesting people, and through Hive Learners activities like the newbies initiative I have understood a lot of things about hive, things that I would have never known if I were to be left alone by myself and for that I say thank you to the hive learners community.
THINGS I HAVE LEARNED
One day I was opportune to speak to my theater team, it was more of a pep talk kind of thing. If I remember correctly this happened in December 2023 during one of our rehearsals. I was called upon to speak about consistency and hard work, and I was called on because I have been a product of consistency and hard work. Before now I had always wished to be more consistent, I felt I did not do enough (I still feel that I don't) I was never consistent in anything, I would usually walk away when the going got tough until I came across the hive learners community and saw first hand what it means to be consistent is giving value and the rewards that could follow.
I also discovered how I could become consistent on my own, move at my pace, learn from my mistakes, and achieve my goals. I tell you this wasn't an easy task, and like I said my mistakes taught me a lot of lessons. My life in the hive learners community taught me even more. For example, the moderators bring in prompts week and week out, reward efforts week in and week out, and most especially find ways to teach newbies and support initiatives that would help hivers learn and grow. What more would a young man who was trying to navigate his way through life ask for if not direction? I got that direction first as a writer on hive, and then as an actor and a person.
When I was talking to my team that day, I wasn't talking as someone looking for words, but as someone in a place of authority because I have tasted and I have seen what it means to be consistent and diligent in your work. My work and journey as a writer on Hive so far hasn't produced great wealth, but it has led me further on my quest to be great through this journey of self-discovery. Being great isn't an option for me, but I know I will, and I'm starting it from here… oh sorry I've started it already and I'm certain that I'm heading in the right direction.
MY MISTAKES AND MISCONCEPTION
In my journey I have made mistakes, quite a lot starting with upvoting myself which I never knew was wrong. I got to know recently chatting with my friends in the hive Ghana community and since then I promised never to do so again. Another mistake I've made in my journey is making posts and not engaging… okay this was of two parts and hive learners moderators did well to teach me the hard way lol. The first part was not engaging at all and for that, I stopped getting curations from hive learners. The second part was not knowing that I would have to say who I supported whenever I was to submit a post so I would always post promotions and drop my post even though I was engaged. I was later corrected and I adjusted.
Another mistake I've made was with the tags. Okay, I've made quite a number of tagging mistakes starting with hI instead of hl (if you know you know). It was Mercy who corrected me on how to use the tags after I had been using them for over a month and wondered why I wasn't still getting hive learner's curations. I've also made the mistake of tagging a curation account which backfired with downvotes and I was left wondering what I did wrong not knowing it was my mistake. And when you talk about misconceptions, like a lot of people I first came thinking I could just write and make money because no one explained to me how the Blockchain works. Even when I was seeing a lot of people talking about engagements I never knew it was something I needed to do. Anyway, now I know, I try to do the needful.
