THE MORE YOU LOOK THE LESS YOU SEE

I do not sit to watch the news, but I follow up on the current happenings through my social media pages. I try as much as possible to follow up with different News media both locally and internationally so I can get first hand information from different sources which allows me to make a critical analysis of the information broadcasted. 90% of the time the news media does the same thing especially when it involves politics. The News media is very good at painting the villain as hero and vice versa and it usually takes a lot of effort to decipher the true intent of whatever information they are dropping. Already there are News outlets I will never believe whenever it comes to information about politics in my country because they have proven to be biased working for the politicians in government.

News outlets like TVC in Nigeria which is believed to be owned by the currently sitting president has shown countless times that they can never be relied on to deliver the truth as far as political corruption is at play. I remember during the elections when they went off air because some shady business was going on at the INEC office (INDEPENDENT ELECTORAL COMMISSION). While we see other news channels and journalists asking critical questions that could spill some deep truth if not carefully answered, you see such TV journalists asking questions that would feed the ego of those in power. Countless times we want to believe what these people are saying, but the circumstances that surround their News report makes it impossible to believe.

I plan on having a news outlet one day, but it would be one that checks the activities of events and individuals. I feel one of the jobs of a news outlet is to expose the truth and not just to inform about something or spread the word. If there's one thing I've come to hate about a lot of News outlets is that majority of them are just copy cats, you find them not doing anything to discover the truth, they would prefer collating informations from other news outlets in other make up theirs and how you will know is that their information are not detailed or deep as they should leaving the masses with a lot of questions that doesn't have answers. I like to see journalists as lawyers when it comes to exposing the truth, but a lot of them have now sold the truth for rubbish.

It's easy for anything to trend online, it's easy for any information to go viral, what I normally check out for when news is spreading are the critics point of view. Not because I'm a critic, but because I believe this information to be like a debate while I am the judge in my own head. I do not have the resources to fact check the information the news media promotes, but I follow some critics who do. No one would go lengths to expose a truth other than those who are opposing the person the information would favor. For example the last presidential election saw the news media promote Peter Obi as the man Nigeria needs, but in truth, he's just a politician playing the game of politics and if he has won, chances are that he wouldn't do much. Not that I support the current president or another opposition for that matter, but when it comes to discovering the truth I will follow all three and see who has more to hide. For me that is the demon among villains.

Very well said. The best way to get the right information is to check multiple reliable sources for thesame news. With this, you'll be at least 99% sure of the information before giving out your opinion
