THE PALAVA WITH PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION

avatar

Today is Sunday, to be honest, I'm happy I'm resting now, but then again I hate the fact that tomorrow is Monday. Everything will just be moving at a very fast pace including my heartbeat 🤦. It's not something I have control over, which makes me hate it the more. The tiredness starts in the morning, and by the time it's evening I'm already feeling super exhausted and just have to come home and sleep only to continue on Tuesday. What makes Mondays worse is the fact that it's hard to get Transportation to work. I wonder if it is the buses refusing to come out, or it is the people that are too much for the buses available.

It's a riddle I have not been able to solve, I mean isn't it the same people who go to work on Monday that go to work the remaining days of the week… what makes Mondays just different. Just last week Monday I went to work late even after coming out 40 minutes early, I stood for over 30 minutes before seeing a bus that would take me to the office. This period I've had to settle with buses because of the rise in transportation caused by the scarcity of petrol in Nigeria. If not I will be leaving far above my everyday expenses which would cripple my finances earlier than expected.

Now tomorrow I will have to go through that same routine of coming out early and ensuring I position myself exactly where the bus would stop. Like I would have to be strategic about it, and make sure I don't miss where the bus will stop. This is so that I could be among the first people to enter the bus, and also get a good seat at the front. There were times I've had to stand with the bus conductor just so I could make it to the office because I was already running late. I just hope I'm able to fully balance my finances in time and go back to taking cabs now that I do not have a car of my own.

I'm blessed not to have traffic in my normal route to work except on rainy days, but sometimes the bus driver would intentionally decide to go through the traffic route which is usually under the flyover bridges and you will see the passengers complaining bitterly knowing they are already running late to work. Last week I wasn't too bothered about coming late as almost every staff came late to work for exactly the same reason. However, the thing I hate most about public buses is the fact that different kinds of people are boarding the buses my issue is with those who have body odor, that is why in everything I do, I ensure I seat near the window just to save my life.

THIS IS MY RESPONSE TO HIVE GHANA PROMPT FOR THE WEEK.

Mondays are always seen as the busiest day of the week and also the first working day of the week. Having lots of people on the road might be for one reason: in my opinion, I think there are those who leaves for work on Monday, to return home during weekend. You will notice it is not always the same as other days like Tuesday but it gets busy again on Friday when they are going back home.

Hahaha. With this still, I dread entering any public transportation but we have no choice.

Oh right, I didn't think of that... But like you said, we have no other choice

The whole strategic positioning was funny. You need to position yourself in a way that when the bus stops, you can easily enter?😂😂
