WHEN WILL IT END
There are quite a lot of infrastructures and social amenities that the government of Nigeria should look into. There are strong rumors of protests holding tomorrow August 1st 2024, and it's not just because of these infrastructures which our dear nation is in dare need of, but also because of the hunger and inflation in the nation. So if I should talk about things that are not working in the country I would definitely have a lot to talk about. However, I would like to look into one of which has become an everyday challenge in our society. The cost of living is currently very high, but at this point I'm not just talking about food.

Yes we need food to survive, but there's something else a good number of us can not survive with and it is becoming more expensive by the day. A lot of Nigerians will agree that if you should calculate the amount of money spent on data alone, it can make a person a millionaire. Like the common saying around here; ”data is life” but then again it's not cheap. Today my company exhausted the data subscription for the month which was supposed to last till the 9th of August. This situation has placed me on a hot seat with my Boss tomorrow as I would have to explain how the data got exhausted. Although I've been crying out loud about the way windows update takes 70% of the data we subscribe to monthly, it's something that can not be avoided.
The major issue here is that my boss wants me to be a magician and ensure that the company spends low on data and still has enough data to spare. But this is Nigeria, and such things do not happen. If you get unlimited data there's usually a frustrating network issue, and if you want a network with 90% chances of not having downtime their data plans are usually capped, or use radio to radio networks. There are usually two kinds of networks prominent in Nigeria, the first is the end to end network that usually has annoying downtimes and high data cost along with capped data plans, and the second is the radio network which can be disrupted by any physical thing like buildings and trees and even airplanes.

Nigeria has a network provider called Glo, but it turns out that glo is the second useless network we can have after 9mobile. Truth is all the networks are useless, but they are all useless in categories. If the government could create a good network system that would enable us to use the Internet without worrying about downtime or how much we're spending on data, it would really do us good. I would prefer to subscribe for a week and be able to do whatever I wish online without having to worry about it getting finished. How wish the data subscription can be like Netflix subscription, pay a certain amount and browse as you like even for the common man

Honestly, things are going bad in this country.
Imagine your boss wanting you to manage data. Who manages data in Nigeria? Lol. Just me alone, my chrome (alone) used over 40gb last month. Only chrome not to talk of other application that I visit regularly.
How does your boss want you to spend low on data and still have enough data to spare, and the business running smoothly? Nah! One has to suffer. It's practically not your fault. Because if you limit data usage or spend low on it, there won't be 100 % efficient work.
Regardless, all you said about network providers are true. Just this morning, the glitch MTN is having is already passing me off 😑
Manage data in this economy 😅, that's just impossible.
50GB can barely take one through the month talk more of a business. Tell your boss to rest!

Omo, even as I speak, they are on my neck😂
Haba 😂, they should please take it easy on you oo😅
This is Nigeria! So many things are wrong 😪. Hunger is very basic, so is data. We need a turnaround. I pray it begins now.

Amen oooo, I pray so too
Your boss is funny. How does he expects data to still be spared considering the way data is being milked like water being gushed out of the tap unexpectedly. I can't even use the two useless networks; glo and Etisalat. Even Airtel is out of the league for me and here comes Mtn which has been my favourite but the way they are draining data nowadays, it baffles me. I just wish there could be a good network system just like you said, so we don't have to worry about subscription to do whatever we want.
I agree with this. If only there is a way to subscribe for a month and one would be able to use well for one month.
I pray things gets better in this country.
