WORK ETHICS

On Monday I reluctantly went to work feeling all sleepy and tired after a busy weekend. On getting to the office my boss was already there as early as I can't even imagine and he was just starting a staff meeting because he needed to travel before 12:00 PM. The meeting lasted for over an hour and the majority of the things he talked about were centered around work ethics. He started by addressing an issue that occurred over the weekend where one of the managers resigned as a result of her relationship with the co-workers. Turned out she was asked about a particular job (which she knew very well) by a client and after the entire discussion told most of the colleagues that the client was offering her a job twice the amount she earned with our company.

She was bragging all about it and even told the gateman after which our boss got to hear about it, and like what any normal boss would do, confronted her about it. She denied saying so until my boss called almost every staff member and the majority affirmed she said it. It was then she admitted to saying it but it was only as a joke and she never meant it. If that was all she would have probably received a query and that would be the end, but she proceeded to kneel down and swear against the company accompanied with other diabolical and religious acts as though the company had wronged her. She had always been very good at her job but lacked cordial relationships with her colleagues and that was what got her into trouble.

I've worked in a couple of firms in my lifetime and as a result seen quite a lot of people in the corporate world. From the pretenders, to liars and backbiters. Not to even talk about the rude and saucy ones. I'm one who is not easily driven to anger unless by those very close to me (those I take to heart). So it's easy for me to deal with the craps and attitude people pull off without letting it affect me in any way. I have a good relationship with almost everyone at my place of work, and those who I do not have a good relationship with I avoid with everything in me. I also make sure I don't need them for anything and when I need them I make sure to involve a superior.

I take these measures because what I hate the most is arguing with a person to the point someone comes to ask what the problem is. Such things make me feel embarrassed and ashamed. This is why I ensure that I don't put myself in a position for anyone to offend me. Recently a colleague borrowed money from me, it's been over two months and he's yet to pay back as agreed. I know if he's the one in my position he wouldn't take it lightly because he has anger issues and can be saucy, but I'm not him, so I make sure to remind him codely with a smile just so he knows I haven't forgotten about the money and still expecting it from him. For me work ethics begins when you can find peace at work and that I try to always do.

THIS IS MY RESPONSE TO HIVE GHANA PROMPT FOR THE WEEK.

What was her point kneeling down to swear and all? She could have just knelt down to apologize rather than raining those insults.
