Professional laundry service
Greetings, everyone.
I'm quite sure you had a nice weekend.
Just yesterday, I had a visitor who asked me why I chose laundry services instead of venturing into what I studied in school. I smiled and answered with a very simple line: "I just love the work."
"Whaaaat! Do you like washing clothes? Come on, that thing is tiring." She blasted.
I smiled and turned the smile into laughter because the response is very common to a normal human. Or do you like washing clothes? Yes, I'm asking you. Lol😅
So that's it. Aside from hustling on the hive, one business that has been stealing my attention here on hive is the laundry business.
I tell you what, the work is time-consuming. Washing may look a bit easier with time, especially when using a washing machine, but when it comes to ironing (pressing), just forget it.
How big is my business?
The truth is that the business is very small, not big at all, compared to a good laundry standard. In fact, if I'm describing it to a friend, I would attach 'mini' to it, as in: "I'm into a mini laundry business."
The 'mini' here refers to the size of the space in which I carry out the work. I'm doing it in my closet, and it's fine with me as long as I'm getting the little pay that's coming from it.
To be honest, it's very costly to get a show-biz office here; my area is likened to Banana Island in Lagos. Anytime I think of going to get a shop in one of those happening places, my well-cultured instincts come out to slap my cheeks.
However, even though it's small, the most important thing is getting the work done and winning the customer's heart. Although I don't have many clients, the ones I have always come back, and it gives me so much satisfaction.
I don't know about other vocations, but for mine, I get so much joy from seeing someone sparkle in a garment I worked on. Some of my clients fellowship in the same church as mine, and many times, seeing them walk past me in a dress I worked on takes my breath away. 😅
Like I usually tell people, "If you wear the clothes I worked on to a party and they skip giving you food, please come and tell me." Yeah, that's the nature of the professional touch I give to clothes.
It seems I'm hyping it too much already 😅.
There was a period when life situations occurred, and I stopped working because I was no longer equipped, mainly because I also got into another type of work. Up to four families refused to go elsewhere to patronize other laundry places because they loved how I handled and 'lined' my work. Those acts— even if I get a bigger job today, I would still get a laundry space to work on clothes. It's just my thing.
What about challenges?
No doubt, there are a lot of challenges in this work, and honestly, I've been kicking them as hard as they come. I recently lost two customers because of what I think and align with, "Customers are always right." I just accepted the errors they pointed out and let go. Honestly, I knew that once irrelevant complaints started coming in, the ties were about to be cut. I didn't bother going around asking them for patronage. You may call it pride.🫣
Thanks for reading.

The way I hate laundry eh 😅 the worst is even ironing, that's one of the reasons why I run from clothes that need constant ironing (senator wears and corporate). You're really trying and it certainly would be better if you get a proper shop, after all growth is very important in any business
Your type are everywhere. Vintage-like polo people. 🤣
Yeah, I I'm going to step up soon. Very soon once a reasonable amount of money get into my hand.

I wish there was something like ironing machine, ironing wears me out very easily.
Keep up the good work, it's not easy. Look out for ways to grow the business too, you will be amazed at heights you can attain
With the advance in technology, there's an ironing machine already but it's not common. Yeah, only the advanced countries are cruising it for now.
Yeah yeah, I'm going to step up the business once a reasonable money enters my account.
Thank you bro

There are majority of people who don't like laundry and things which are related to it like ironing. Well, I also don't like it. It consumes time as your visitor said to you.
But, I believe that if you are enjoying it and loving it then it's all okay and your work seems like hobby to you.
Yeah, it's so time consuming and stressful too. But what can we do? Just a source of earning and we must do it.
