Explain your favourite way of motivating yourself to do difficult or uncomfortable things.
I have an infinite number of tools when I have to face some difficult or uncomfortable activity. I will share with you some of my personal tools that have helped me to motivate myself. I always resort to meditation, I have been practicing it for many years and the truth is that it has given me very good results, through this technique I usually visualize the scenario I am going to face, when I worked as a medical visitor one of the most difficult challenges was the moment when I had to present an exhibition in front of a large audience, it was complicated because I felt stage fright. In the meditation I performed I visualized myself having a body posture that transmitted personal security, I imagined that the audience stood up applauding my presentation, and I brought this feeling to reality feeling excited about my success, one of the ways to make this practice work is to feel convinced that what you are visualizing is a reality, that it is something tangible and that it will happen the way you are imagining it.
Another of my favorite ways to motivate myself to do something I consider difficult is to prepare myself through knowledge and study. When you study and read enough about something difficult that you have to face, the easiest way to go through that experience is to have as much knowledge as possible, by being informed you will be able to know how to solve the obstacles that may arise. I am sure that knowledge gives you the security you need and takes away all fears. In my personal experience, having the knowledge of the subject that I was going to expose removed all my insecurities, since I felt that I had the knowledge to answer any question or doubt that the public asked me... If you want to remove your fears you must prepare and study, this is the only way to uproot the roots where your fears are born.
Another technique that I usually use a lot is listening to music, there are different musical styles, for these types of situations I choose songs with positive and motivating lyrics, I feel that these types of lyrics become mantras that act positively on a cerebral level. Most of the time our limitations are a mirage, but the brain transforms them into a real sensation. A good melody acts as
little pill that will help turn everything uncomfortable and difficult into something more comfortable and easier to handle. Music is a good tool that becomes a restorative channel where it strengthens the way you act and the results you want to achieve.
Going for a walk outdoors is a practice that I love to do, I feel that it is a good way to drain my emotions, it helps me clear my thoughts. I have been able to verify that to feel motivation and passion in something that you consider difficult or uncomfortable, you must keep your body active and your mind busy.
