Two from Junction Craft

A #Beersaturday post on a Saturday...#winning. This week I drank two beers by a new Brewery for me called Junction Craft. Let's see how they were shall we?

Junction Craft Pilsner

Brewery: Junction Craft Brewery
Origin: Toronto ON Canada
Style: German Pils
Abv: 4.5%

Marketing: Neon orange and pastel turquoise color swirls contrast each other nicely on this can. It's like oil and water battling it out for supremacy on which will win out. The can is bold and fun and I like it a lot. It's funky in a way, and reminds me of the bright colors of 90s sports wear. It would be great to view the can under a black light (not that I ever will. I don't own one a black light. Who does?). Though the two cans were similar to each other I slightly preferred this one because of the color and design.

Color: The beer poured a hazy cloudy yellow color with a very hearty foam that was strong enough to go up and over the glass rim. That was a nice feature about the beer.

Nose: The aroma was very fresh and inviting with prominant citrus notes and some bread coming through for me in the background. Pleasant overall.

1000003780.jpg

Taste: Very mild tartness at first quickly followed by a strong bitter finish. I know that taste is all relative but the can suggesting that this beer has a subtle bitterness seems off to me. It was more like a firm slap in the face. This beer was bitter through and through. It tasted fresh and clean though and was quite enjoyable.

Texture: It had a nice sharp carbonation which I was a little surprised by given how much foam it produced during the pour. I was a little worried that over did it and used up all of the carbonation. It had plenty left though. I found it to be light bodied.

Impression: Overall I enjoyed the beer. It was quite bitter but I like some bitterness. The main thing was that it was fresh tasting and without any skunkiness. It drank like a fresh batch of beer that used quality ingredients in its recipe. I would buy it again for sure.

Junction Krispy Light Lager

Brewery: Junction Craft Brewery
Origin: Toronto ON Canada
Style: Light Lager
Abv: 3.9%

1000003776.jpg

Marketing: Another bright and colorful can, this time of hot pink and neon yellow. More swirling imagery. It reminded me of a lava lamp, which I believe they also made a come back in the 90s. This Brewery seems to have a theme for its marketing and I'm liking it.

1000003777.jpg

Color: This one also poured a hazy yellow with a strong head of foam. It lefts ribbons down the glass. I always like it when a beer leaves it's mark behind.

Nose: Fresh and fragrant with citrus notes of lemon and grapfruit. Im getting some fruity or maybe floral hops coming through as well.

Taste: The taste on this one was tangy and bitter for me with tons of flavor, mostly citrusy lemon notes. It was definitely hoppy but not overpowering and once again very fresh tasting.

Texture: Sharp bubbles and very well carbonated. Light bodied similar to the last. That's not surprising given it's a light beer.

Impression: You wouldn't really know that this is a light beer with the amount of flavor packed into it. It was very refreshing and very satisfying overall. I would buy this one again also.

This is a new Brewery for me but I'm liking it. Both beers had a lot of flavor and tasted very fresh. I'll definitely be on the look out for more varieties from them. I'm hoping that they make some darker beers as well.

Which one sounds better to you? What can design do you prefer? Let me know in the comments.

Well thats it for now. Until next time, thanks for stopping by. Cheers everyone!

The citrus came from the hops variety they used and wasn't overpowering. It was quite nice.

Haha awesome my buddy Tom owns that brewery and it has been around quite a while. Since their move from the small place into the big facility a little north of st Clair, they have really rounded out their marketing and labeling game.

Not my favourite beers as I am an ipa guy and it took them a long while to warm up to brewing ipas. I love their English bitters and some of the maltier beers.

Awesome stuff.

Oh interesting. That's pretty cool. I'm glad I didn't give a bad review 😆

I like malty beers, so that's really good news for me. I'm going to look out for them. I quite liked the beers I tried and the English bitters sounds good.

It's from Toronto Canada so I don't know if it would be in Europe or not at this point.

They have certainly nailed it with the can designs. They really stand out and I was thinking yum already.

Nice catch on the pair of them!

And, hey, I've got a black light!! 🤣🤣 It's part of a funky super bright torch I got on Amazon, lol

Yeah the can designs are fun. I like the colors.

I've got a black light!!

😆 that's so funny. I actually think that I had one when I was younger. I think I had a strobe light as well lol. A torch is what we call a flashlight 🔦 right? Im so intrigued- Why would it have a black light, does it have a whole bunch of funky colors to switch between? That would probably be the most practical way of owning a black light.

Yeah, it's a flashlight with strobe/darklight/red. It's quite nifty, I take it camping but also when we stay somewhere and I can some or on the floors and entertain myself with the organic stains 😀😀

Lmao 😂
Probably good to bring to hotels to make sure that the sheets are clean. Might be scary though 😬

It's always scary when you flick it on. To date though, it hasn't shown anything awful. Although it is a legit blacklight: I have checked 😜
