Splinterlands Art Contest | Katrelba Gobson
It's Saturday, I feel a bit sick but I managed to finish this artwork which is my submission for the splinterlands art contest. I could have missed this round if I didn't do like 90% of the work yesterday. I'm glad procrastination didn't get to me because I really don't see myself doing anything today.
This is actually the first time I'm seeing this card and I really love how the character looks, her facial expression, pose, colour pallete and outfit are on point. Her hairstyle and colour is just beautiful.
I saw an image in my gallery days back so I decided to use it as a reference for this work, I know I would face some troubles because it's a side profile, I dislike profiles but I did it regardless. I finished the sketch which was a struggle then began painting by adding flat colours to her skin, hair, clothes and ornaments. Lots of my work have all the facial features but this didn't have them, just one eye and nose, something different for a change.
I painted more strands and details on her hair and also picked some colours from the original work, I also rendered her skin and this didn't take a lot of time. I went on to add details to her dress, I also thought it would be cool to add that green shade on her hand and I did just that. I painted the Dagger after that then I struggled with painting her fingers, this was hard for me.
A huge part of the work was done at this point, I then added more details to all the ornaments and painted her corset, adding the holes and ropes, I enjoyed this part. I added some shine to some areas, made a few changes and painted a simple background.
This is the final painting, I hope you like it...

Gorgeous, I love your brushstrokes so much :)
Thank you so much
So free, I really like the process and the freedom you have when painting, definitely the best thing is the brush strokes, they look spontaneous😘😘
I appreciate this a lot, thank you
