Splinterlands Art Contest | Tide Biter

Tide Biter used to be a human sailor who loved the seas. His adventures were successful because of his strong water mana spells. As a mage and ship captain, he was highly respected. Unfortunately, during a vampire attack at sea, he was almost killed, bitten and thrown into the water and believed his end was near. Tide Biter became filled with vengeance about how he became a vampire and began searching the seas of Praetoria to find the vampire who turned him. Supported by his crew, he sails the open waters of the Splinterlands, always looking for his target.

Its that time of the week where I get to share a new fanart for the splinterlands art contest, this has become something I look forward to every week because its fun. I had tons of cards to chose from but I settled for this one because I needed a break from working with warm colours, this is my second fanart of this character, the original work is impeccable and I had fun doing this.

PROCESS

I already had a picture of what I wanted in my head so I did a quick sketch that didn't have all the details yet, my plan was to do the main character and figure out the rest as I progressed. I normally don't deviate from the usual skin colours I use but I decided to just go with the flow on this one and this was a little challenging. After painting flat colours for her skin, hair and clothes, I then moved on to her facial features.

The rendering phase began with her skin, I basically just used colours from the original character and either made them lighter or darker depending on the area I was painting. I added more strands and colour to her hair before moving on to her clothes. I painted water by the side of her eyes and bubbles all around her. I thought her clothing looked a bit too simple so I added the blue scarf around her neck, it worked and made a huge difference💪

I love the water thing on his chest so I painted that and added more bubbles dripping down her clothes , I also painted the scars and water droplets on her face.

I encountered little trouble with the background but I eventually got something I like. I added some glow and made minor changes to the final work. I love it and I hope you do...
