Splinterlands Art Contest | Xenith Monk
Hello hive community, welcome to my blog again. The weekend is officially here and I wish you a wonderful one. I'm so happy I was able to finish this work for the splinterlands art contest, for this week I decided to do a fanart of the Xenith Monk. It's a really dope card with a cool pose, beautiful outfit and those blue body marks🔥 I've never painted this card before so I hope you love my version.
Xenith Monks! Enlightened, knowledgeable and protectors. They are mostly focused on expanding their minds, striving for balance and self awareness in all things. They live by some codes which include sheilding those in need, lending a helping hand and being a guilding light to those in darkness. Now that sounds cool, where do I sign up?😀
First off, those blue marks are really cool and I was dieing to paint them just to see how they look on my character. I spent some time searching for references and found some cool upclose images but I changed my mind last minute and did something different and I think I like it.
Sketching this work wasn't a big challenge, however I found myself stuck on the clothing style as I couldn't come up with something good. I went into the painting phase proper by adding flat colours to her skin, hair, jewellery and clothes. I painted her facial features with big blue eyeballs.
Rendering the skin took a little time because I tried out some new brushes and I think I love it. I couldn't decide on a colour for her top because nothing looked good to me, I eventually found one and played around with photoshop blend modes and got something nicer. I also added some lighter colour to her neck beads to make them a bit realistic before adding more strands and details to her hair.
The part I looked forward to the most was painting the blue markings and I didn't make mine as flat as the one on the original character. I love how they look after adding some shadow underneath.
I made some small changes to areas that didn't really good and added some lighting for some improvement on the characters general look. I then painted the background with both simple and textured brushes.
That's all for now, I hope you like what I came up with for this round and I hope you have an amazing weekend 👋
