Ladies of hive contest # 219; some weird wedding traditions

(Edited)

Hello everyone!!!

I hope so you all are fine and happy 😀

Wedding is a universal tradition which has a great effect on both partner's life. But i think here in Pakistan we've rich wedding traditions and i think wedding is so much expensive now a day's. I can see people spend a lot of money on these wedding traditions.

Our wedding continue to Three to four day's including wedding functions such as

  • Mehndi (pre wedding ceremony)
  • Barat (wedding day)
  • Walima (Reception from groom family)

Well these all are the wedding functions or you can say events but i want to share some awkward tradition of wedding which only happens to girls.

In our culture, we did Maiyo before a week of mehndi. A bride wear yellow dress and people put on turmeric on her face, hand, and feet. It's just like a small event too but when Maiyo is done, there's a restrictions on girl that she doesn't goes outside the home as it's not considered a good sign if she goes outside the home.

Some said if she have to go outside it's urgent then she must put some iron in her wallet to save herself from any danger. Otherwise they don't allow to move a girl outside the home.

Another unique tradition is that a married woman must wear the nose pin as it's the sign of married woman that she wears nose pin she must be married.

We lost our customs and traditions!!!

But now no on care about these traditions as people leave it on one side. Now girls go to salon regularly when it's only one week left in wedding in order to do some type of cleansing and other things.

If i talk about wearing nose pin now girls like to put it on before marriage too as it's a fashion or trend. Personally I'm a married woman but I don't follow this trend as i never put on the nose pin as i don't like it or I feel fear from doing the pierce in my nose.

There's maybe many other tradition too but now in my mind I've only these two which i mentioned but as i love to know some tradition from @amberkashif too in comment box.

That's all for today and it's my entry in this week ladies of hive contest.

Thank you for your time and support

Hehe. I don't think we need to follow all the tradition blindly when it has no use case. If it's good than we should follow it. I also heard about those traditions you mentioned here but those are not followed in recent days and I feel it's ok.

Well does that iron automatically repel incoming danger or gow does it work.
Technically probability of danger is always same so why not keep that iron always in purse😂lolz

Haha these are all superstitions lol 😆

Yes but in my opinion bridal shower is the most common in rich people or in the middle class but I'm talking here about the whole community including the poor too....m

Sad when you witness the old traditions, cultures disappear, still very much followed in many families in my home country.

Fortunate in attending Greek Orthodox, Hindu, Zulu traditional weddings along with many Christians tying the knot over the years. Each is interesting holding symbolism, with movement of people these I suppose will eventually fade away.

Residing in pre divided India for more than 1000 years made us adopt these rituals of nose pins, bengals, Mehndi, Mayo, Jahaiz and the like.

Well, I don't believe on any of these myths. Neither I wear nose pin nor I bengals. There was no mayio celebration either on my wedding.

Personally, I believe we need to adopt simplicity to make life easier.

Thanks for sharing !LADY

But i think simplicity has almost ended nowadays and i can only see the show piece world especially after the era of ticktokers.....
