April HPUD Guessing Contest - What am I? With extra prize this month

This month I have made 11 posts which seems to be my average nowadays. I haven't been keeping tabs on exactly how much my stake has grown in the month, roughly around 1500HP it think, including the 100 HP I've powered up today.

Most of my other time on Hive this month has been busy fighting abuse - an Indonesia farm with at least 40+ accounts. I'm sure there are more in the farm which I haven't linked up yet. It's amazing how much effort people go into to manage so many accounts, posting low effort crap to milk 1 or 2 cents every day if they're lucky. If they could channel all that time and effort to manage one single account, create good quality content, and engage with the community in a sincere way, I'm sure they can grow their account much quicker, honourably and with good conscience. Instead now, when they retaliate by downvoting me, their downvoted value is less than 0.000. The moral of this story?

Power up and grow your account applies to abusers as well. If you feel hard done because you've been scamming and abusing on Hive, then at least you'll have more power when you want to be spiteful. It won't make you look so pathetic.

April HPUD Guessing Contest

Last month I went on a short break to Portugal and made two posts about it. I visited a museum (I haven't posted about it yet) and saw this object inside. This month's HPUD Guessing Contest is very simple

What am I?
20240314_121339.jpg

It's very difficult to give tips this month other than this object is related to the topic in one of my two Portugal post last month. Go and check out them, but don't upvote as they're past payout already. Good luck!

In my post title this month, you may have noticed I said there's an extra prize. This is courtesy of @mipiano. Last month she won my HPUD Guessing Contest and asked that I gift her prize to someone who needs it more to grow their account. Unfortunately I forgot when I transferred the prize to the winners, and now she wants to gift her 25 HP win to someone, this is the extra prize. How can I win? I hear you ask. Easy.

Based on the same What am I? image above, give us your most creative, crazy, wild, silly, useless, whacky idea on what the object may be. @mipiano will be the judge here and the winner will win 25 HP from her.

You can enter both contests if you want. One for HPUD, what you think the object really is, and another for the extra prize.

For the HPUD Guessing Contest, the person who guess correctly or the nearest to the correct answer will get 100 Hive powered up to your account. If there are more than one winner, you will share the 100 HP. And if you win and powered up on HPUD I will double your win. However, if you are powering down or have powered down in the past month you will not be eligible for any prizes. It's pointless for me to power up to you to help you grow your account if you're powering down.

As usual, I will upvote your entry and the % will be based on your level of engagement as the whole reason I started this HPUD Guessing Contest was to drive up quality engagement on Hive. Good luck everyone!!

Thats nuts - I cant imagine trying to manage 40 accounts. As you say, just do one account well, and it will probably be less effort.

In terms of the guesses for the thingy - I've no idea. I've looked at your two posts and they are about fish or coffee, therefore my guess is that its a spider web spun by a spider made out of wool !

Actually, I checked my blacklist for the farm, there's 56 of them on it!!

1500 HP growth is impressive - nicely done !

As for the "What am I?" I'm going to have to say that it's a gift from Granny Funnel Web Spider knitted by her for her latest set of grand-spiders; she calls it 'My First Web' 😁

Good for you for cracking down on them!

If they could channel all that time and effort to manage one single account...

That is a really good point. It's so true.

In terms of guessing I'm going to go with a tea cozy to keep a tea pot warm.

In terms of the other game I'll say... that's almost harder actually... the open mouth of a fish... 😂 kind of a dumb guess but 🤷‍♂️

Open mouth of a regular fish or some knitted kind of it? 😂

Portugal, is one of my favorite countries to visit, mainly because of the warmth of the people we met there, the thing looks like a basket of some sort, probably way off.

Nice work on the account growth, keep it up.

You had interesting posts about fish and coffee, but it wasn't worth it, I have no idea 🙂
Considering that it is a prop in a museum, I believe it has a more value than what I am thinking now 🙂
But I will write what I would use it for.
Like a lampshade... Or I would keep it on the boat as part of a sunshade to protect me from the sun while fishing... Or as a trap to catch larger fish...

@duskobgd & @mipiano, sorry for listening in to your conversation (not something a lady with a parasol would do) but you gave me a good chuckle visualizing your suggestions about this knitted/crochet 'thingamajig' @livinguktaiwan is getting our brain juices (or rather, curiosity) going😅 What is this thing?

Based on the description of the image, it appears that the object is a piece of art or decoration made of woven material, possibly a type of rope or thread, originating from some ethnic group in ancient Portugal that came from the native Galician Hispanic and Romanised Lusitanian inhabitants. I have been to Portugal a couple of times, but on strictly work-related matters. I'll have to take a holiday to see the tourist sites.

40 accounts to manage at single time taking some cents rarely rather than holding one account to earn big. This proves that persons doing this aren't normal..

Okie, coming towards my most interesting thing... The guessing thing🕊️🕊️

I was going to say it is a fish trap but then I thought fish traps aren't crocheted this tight. So then thinking about it is related to your titles of the post it might be some kind of hand carry for carrying fish or other food items

And for the second guess is it an open cave leading to the sweet world of Portugal 🤔

And yes, I have been winning consecutively for two times so let's see if I can complete my hat trick or not (consecutive three).

that looks like crochet bag, maybe a hat but I more on to a bag but the sling is not shown there.

I am sorry those Aceh dudes bug you this way, I have had some disputes with them in the past but I do not know if those are the same guys or the same circle as them. I will try to dig in more, but can't promise you any. Even as an Indonesian, its extremely hard to get into their circle as some of them tend to promote isolation from people of other regions or ethnicities.

I hope they get some real job in real life, so at least they spend time on doing things that worthy and valuable, not like this bugging trolling people for their useless fun

It sad that there's so many of them, and especially when they're from your own country and it give the goods users a bad reputation as well. I think they've stopped posting now, or maybe they will come back with more new accounts, we shall see

yes, I really hope they stop for real, getting a real job to pay for their family living. I have lived there for 2 years working on a couple of projects, so more or less know how screwed up there... for decades they lived in military suppressions then a decade living "freely" from many international aid and grant due to a massive Tsunami disaster. We can not expect anything from people or generation who grew up in that kind of background.

Good morning, P!
How are you?

I hope you're well and healthy.

Regarding your trip to Portugal, I hope you enjoyed your time here, I'll have to keep up to date with your posts. It's now much easier for me to keep up to date with my favourite users, as the lists in the Feed are now available again!

Congratulations on continually increasing your HP. 1500 in a month is a considerable amount.

As @pardinus said, I feel I'm at an advantage because I'm Portuguese and because of my compadre's profession (as I've already mentioned in various posts I've made about him and his father).

The object in question seems to be a fishing net, or a trap used for catching either crustaceans (prawns) or eels... But I'm not sure what species it's for, only that it's an object used in traditional fishing.

If they use all the effort in one point, they would grow a stronger community, putting their effort together to came up with a better result then stealing a few cents per day... reduced vision is a consequence of poor distance vision. As the old saying goes: "Teach them to fish, not steal the fish..."

Thank you for the opportunity to participate in your "What Am I" contest. This previous month, for the first time in months, I passed the Power Up 1 Hive in one day... Off course that I've powered up 10 Hive in April 1st, but even so I'll lack the March Badge for powering up every day of the month...

wow, for a few cents trying to fight the system... guess that are all bot accounts, so once set, 100s times a few cents is a bit more I suppose. orrr they plan to grow these accounts slowly. seen them before.

Uhm the thingy on the floor...

At first, I thought a hat, but it may not sit well with the metal poles at the sides.
A lampshade was another thought I had, but it doesn't have the metal stuff to hold it.

sooooo I go for:

Golfball catcher/goal. It is on the ground. Perfect for such.
The floor isn't too much golfball proof, but that aside. The ball also needs to come off the ground, which makes it even more interesting, for the one trying, as well as for the floor 😂 But that said, I go with this: golfball catcher/goal.

Checking those blog titles and looking at the image, I first thought it's a tea cosy or food cover, but I see something else there that makes me think it can't be, so I'm guessing it's a lady's parasol?

Congrats on your growth, really impressive! As for the contest, my answer is a trap for crabs. If you hadn't written about the fish market in previous posts, I'd have said that this item is a backpack basket for farm chores. My grandfather had a similar one, but it was not made of fabric, but of wooden willow branches.

wow a backpack basket made from wooden willow branches must have been quite uncomfortable to carry😣 especially when filled with things inside

Yes, it's true. Far from being like today's comfortable backpacks. But it served its purpose, and in our home it was mostly used to carry firewood from the woodshed to the house. And as you can guess, firewood is not light 🤣 But the work was rewarded with the joy of Grandpa and Grandma

This, of course, is a work of art that you have been knitting. And it is a typical Madeira Island hat. It is of course a very particular artistic design and was commissioned in Lisbon at the Fado museum when you visited. You were immediately recognised as a great crochet artist.

1500 in growth!! Go you! That's really good going, well done. Great work uncovering the Indonesia scam farm too, it's crazy the lengths people will go to in order to try to cheat the system.

Another month, another fun guessing contest and this time it's less logical and more obscure which is a fun deviation.

So this woven crocheted object looks to be related to fishing somehow. I believe it may be the traditional Portuguese Murejona that was popular for fishermen in the 70s and 80 but today is more likely to be seen hanging on the walls of funky coffee shops and bars as art.....

Or..... it could be a Woven portal to an inter dimensional wormhole of time travel where we are all made out of crochet. Yes, I think that's it actually. Our friend snowpea has been trying to tell us for years now about the wormhole. How else could she travel to all these places!!
