Calling all Pokémon fans and answers to August HPUD Guessing Contest
A few months ago I made a post about a very cute 7-11 convenience store in Taiwan based on my favorite Sanrio cartoon character Little Twin Stars. It's not one of the most well-known characters but definitely the cuteness in my opinion. Taiwan are well known for its 7-11 convenience store, with many becoming theme stores, and today I have another one for you, which I think many will know if not love - Pokemon!!!!
Personally, I don't play Pokemon myself but I know it was a massive craze some years ago. I seldom see people play it in the UK now, and when I was back in Taiwan earlier this year, it seemed like it was mainly the 'older' generation who still played it. Often I'd see them walking around parks and public places with their mobile phones. I thought the craze had died down so was rather surprised to see a Pokemon themed 7-11 convenience store. In fact, I'm on the OCD Discord server a lot, and users get different Pokemon names based on their level of activity on the server, so maybe it's still a thing?
Although I'm not a fan, it was very nice to walk into such a cheerful store and see all the different characters. I recognize a few of them but I couldn't tell you their name to save my life! This particular store also has an upstairs level, many 7-11 in Taiwan do, and they're great to hang out and avoid the heat in the summer. If you think the downstairs store area is ultra cool, Pokemon fans will absolutely love the upstairs. All the walls are lined with the characters, as are the tables and stools, and they even have three game machines to do whatever Pokemon fans do, I have absolutely no idea how you play 😂

AUGUST HPUD GUESSING CONTEST
This month I had another good batch of entries from 47 of you!! Thanks so much for taking part! I know many of you counted the coffee pods in my image which would have given you something between 51 to 53, but I forgot to mention that there are more underneath which you can't see!! Sadly, if that's what you guessed, you haven't won. I've laid out all the pods on the table and grouped them into 10s plus the odd 3, giving the correct answer of 6️⃣3️⃣

What a nice Pokémon store, I never played it, but my brother was a fan of that game and got to have a plush the leader I guess, the yellow one wouldn't save my life either if you ask me for their names, my brother is 26 years old, but as we live on the other side of the world maybe the euphoria of this game came late over here.
Now I am going to enjoy my moment of glory hahahahaha I had a long time without winning your contest @livinguktaiwan , my luck is changing, thanks and congratulations to the other winners.

I heard of Charmander before, and I just Googled it now. Yes, I've seen this character before, I've also gone through all my photos and it's not there... Maybe it was at the front of the store or someone was standing by it so I didn't take a photo...

The Pokémon themed 7/11 is pretty cool. My wofe loved the game. I enjoyed the original for Gameboy but never got into Go

Well, I'm a old f*rt! I know some persons of my age that still plays the mobile game... Can you believe it? And that particular guy, as a GPS emulator program so he can tricks the app! LOL Isn't that nuts? But I can blame them, since when I was a kid, I was completely crazy about "The Muppet Show" 😅

I envy your 7/11 stores. Here in our city most 7/11 stores do not have tables for customers who want to eat. If you find one, the tables are so limited that only 3 to 5 people can sit. I asked one store why they don't have any tables at all and the staff answered me that usually if the outlet sells cigarettes, then they are not allowed to have tables inside. Huh? I don't really see the connection there. Our city has a total smoking ban and no one can smoke in public. Anyways, THAT is a good idea for a 7/11 outlet, the theme store. I will definitely suggest this to a friend who has a 7/11 outlet. Very interesting post, my friend.

7-11 is a very competitive business in Taiwan, in the busy areas there's literally one at least every 5 minutes walk away. When your products are all the same you have to invest in the other areas such as decor, seating area and toilets. Get that right, and you're ahead of your competitors
