My Christmas decoration collection and Answer to December HPUD Guessing Contest

When @mipiano told me about the Christmas card and decorations collection initiative in her Hive Collectors community I thought what a great idea!! But then I remembered I've given most of my decorations away 😭. Luckily, I've posted about them before, and since some of these items have sentimental value for me, I wanted to share them here.

My favourite decoration is this bauble from my old company. The colourful company logo fits perfectly on the sphere and looks lovely on the silver background. I spent most of my working life at this company, had my ups and downs but overall it was ok. One year after I had left the company, I went back to meet old colleagues for lunch. When I was waiting in the reception, I saw they had a basket of these beautiful baubles. I think the proceeds might have been for charity, big companies tend to do a lot of these goodwill things at Christmas. Sadly I think I gave this or threw this away when I was moving to Taiwan, and am gutted I did because I really do like this bauble. It's so unique and forms a big part of my life.

Most girls like Hello Kitty, but my favourite Sanrio character is Little Twin Stars. I've got tones of their stuff and when I get around to it, will definitely post my collection. This Christmas decoration is part of the collection. I've had it for many years and it's starting to fall to pieces as the tree is just a piece of cardboard. You can see the folds at the base of the star at the top, hopefully it won't break.

Here's another set of Christmas ornaments that I threw or gave away. It's a set of four hand painted Christmas eggs that I bought from Czech I think. Each one of them are different and I remember I had to be extra careful with them every year as they are even more fragile than the baubles.

The only Christmas decoration that I have kept from many years ago is this pair of mini Christmas tree. They were given to me by my old neighbour Eileen. I lived next door to Eileen for 8 years till she passed away. Things got a bit difficult with Eileen towards the end but this still has sentimental value for me.

With most of my Christmas decorations gone, I had to start building up my collection this year. I got these glass icicles and angels. They look very sparkly as I have positioned them.on the tree so the Christmas lights shines into them.

A lot of the houses where I live have gone to town with their decorations. When I saw the bank of Christmas trees on a Noel stand in the shops, I figured I'd do a little display in my front window as well. They go perfect with Eileen's Christmas trees, and the fairy lights and stickers adds to the ambience at night.

I bought this wood Christmas tree in Germany last week. It has 6 sides and lots of dangling ornaments. I think it looks perfect on the stairs in the hallway which I have deliberately kept minimalistic.
20231211_182246.jpg

I mustn't forget my little Christmas helpers Snowpea and Mary. They help to look after some of my tiny ornaments until I hang them up. A Swarowski crystal angel and a little bauble I got in Germany with my initial.

Last and not the least, I made a Hive Christmas decoration this year. In my next post I will tell you how you can make your own.

We don't do too much with decorations either. We have some from when we were kids, but we don't really use those on our tree. The tree is mostly just some round ornaments and a couple special ones that people have given us over the years. I think your decorations look really nice!

Thanks @bozz. I haven't done a proper Christmas tree for many years due to us moving around, so it's really nice to finally put one up this year, it feels so enchanting

We had a couple years where we didn't do one either. One year was because we had a flood and our tree got ruined, so we weren't really in the Christmas spirit!

Beautiful decorations.
It’s good you still have some, especially with memories attached to them. 🎄🎄🎄🎄
Have fun collecting more 😎

Not sure if I manage to decorate this year… will see once back.
Have a great evening 👋🏻😊

What a nice Christmas decoration, everything becomes more valuable when it has sentimental value.

Congratulations to @ph1102 what a great shot, that's Christmas luck.

I don't know why I didn't keep my favourite bauble the other year, must be age kicking in now and feeling nostalgic all the time

It's a really great idea. I'm sorry you broke up your collection. It is a very diverse and beautiful collection. But I know you can make better ones.
I wish you success in the new collection.

Thanks @mukadder.

If you have any interesting collection of things, you can also share them in the community. It doesn't have to be Christmas related, it can be anything

Thank you very much for the suggestion. I can share my collection of Music Cassettes. I still keep it and still listen to it. 🥰🙏

Have no idea what's happening, but this was my 2nd (or 3rd) participation and my second win!! Or I'm reading your mind, or I'm cheating... 😂 (just kidding)

I like those glass icicles and angels... Before I read about them, I thought that it was real icicle... 😃

Congratulations @ph1102, gosh I was way out! Your Christmas decorations are so pretty.
I've only put a few up in the bnb units, will try to get some hand-made ones at a Christmas market. The tree can wait till next year, but I still love seeing all the decorations!

Do you have guests staying at your B&B over Christmas? Hopefully you can take time off and relax. I imagine it will be a difficult Christmas for you, but I know your family will be there for you

I fortunately have returning guests who arrive today for their daughter's wedding preparations, they're only leaving after Christmas, so it will be easy. My staff have planned their leave such that it will only be the 25th and 26th that there's no help here. But we don't service the units on public holidays in any case.
Yes, It's starting to hit me again, or rather slap me in the face! My youngest son will come down next weekend and stay till after New Year so that will be good. We're having Christmas lunch at my sister-in-law's niece, with the extended family, all awesome people xxx

Hi @livinguktaiwan, thanks for showing us your cute and varied Christmas ornaments. The ones that incorporate a sentimental charge for you. Both the ones that remind you of your old job, and the ones that Eileen gave you, that even a contest inspired.
It is the magic of Christmas, which with these small details, not only unites the family in thought, but also to details of our past and to think of those loved ones who are no longer here. Greetings @abrunet

I love those glass icicles. I'll be on the lookout for something like that when I go to the malls. Your display by the window is also fantastic. Merry Christmas and looking forward to the next 😀

Next time I will just read what is @ph1102's guess, and copy the same 😁

But anyway, he said he would take me to the pastry shop now so I can have an apple pie... and eat it all by myself 😂

The glass angel and icicle are beautiful. I had three glass angels but didn't bring them with me to Spain 😭

The Swarovski crystal angel is amazing, Snowpea and Mary are good guardians of treasures :))

I hope he will buy you a coffee to go with the apple pie (one only?😉)

Thanks for hosting this initiative, it brings back nice memories for me

A coffee, of course. Also cheesecake, tiramisu, ice cream, chestnuts and... I will think as many sweet treats as I can 😂

That wooden Christmas tree and crystal angel is pretty. This year I don't have any place to make my own village or for the tree. I hope I will get a big space next year, just hoping for the best... Happy Holiday...

No, I haven't bought anything from there except one handmade souvenir. That's a great idea, I can make something nice for this Christmas...

Hello @livinguktaiwan, nice to meet you. I really enjoyed your post since I am a Christmas lover, so much so that I am the one who decorates the home. The truth is that, like you, I had many Christmas decorations and things before, but when I left my country all of that had to be given away.

Each photo has a beautiful story and I liked each of them; I tell you that the dolls in the 2nd photo were very famous here in Latin America in the 80s mainly, when I saw them, I identified them at once.

The photos of the tree with the silver and glass ornaments are beautiful and the Hive ornament is EPIC!!

Thank you for sharing part of your life story, I read it with great pleasure. Greetings and have a nice Christmas 🙌😀💛... You Rockkkk!!!! 👍😎🔥🎄☃️🎅❤️

That's so awesome thatLittle Twin Star was popular in your country, I think they're so under rated as everyone seems to like Hello Kitty instead.

I know what you mean when you leave your country and have to give things away. It's such a big move and at that time small things seems so unimportant in the scheme of things. And it's only when you settle down many years later that you start to think about them again.

Please! I can't wait to see this as soon as possible. I'm not going to decorate a tree for Christmas, but I would love to have an ornament.
