-I see a woman playing a virtual reality game while the person in charge is watching her.

-I feel the woman is having a good time in her virtual reality world.

STORY

“Bleughhhhh ahhhhh” Didi Bedford sobbed uncontrollably into her pillow while her friend Amber and her elder brother Luke sat on her bed watching her interestingly.

“Aw come on Didi, that's enough” her brother said, patting her back and handing her a tissue. Didi grabbed it from him, giving him a side eye, and blew her nose loudly. Her face was all swollen and red and her hair was a mess. The room was littered with clothes and pictures of Didi and the person responsible for her present condition, Axe.

Axe had broken up with Didi to go on a cruise trip with his new girlfriend, who happened to be Didi's cousin, and it had rendered her heartbroken and left her feeling useless. She had locked herself in her home for a week and when she'd finally opened the door for Amber and her brother she looked like a deranged raccoon.

“You look terrible by the way” Amber said while Luke gave her a sign to shut up.

“Look at your sister Luke, somebody has got to say something. We know how much you love Axe, but things didn't work out. Knowing your cousin pretty soon she's going to get bored and dump him”. Amber said shrugging.

Didi stopped crying and thought about what Amber had said. She was right, her cousin Rachel changed her boyfriends like hand wipes.

“And when she dumps him, he'll come right back to me” Didi replied, brightening up.

“Umm, that's not what I was trying to say…” Amber began.

“Nice work Amber. Didi that man is coming nowhere near you” Luke said, suppressing a grin.

“What! You mean he's never coming back?” Didi wailed again and started crying.

They both groaned out loud and continued comforting her. After another round of Didi sobbing and complaining that her life was over, Amber managed to persuade her to take a shower and wash her hair. While she was in the bathroom, she and Luke tidied up the house and came up with a plan. An hour later Didi emerged looking and smelling clean and fresh. She was about to lay on the bed when Luke stopped her.

“There's no way we're going to let you cry yourself to death, Axe doesn't deserve that. Come on let's go out and grab something to eat” he said.

“But I'm not hungry” Didi whined.

“Okay then, a little bit of fresh air and sunshine would do you some good” Amber tried.

“No” Didi replied, folding her arms and frowning her face.

“What about Ice cream and countless chocolates?” Luke tried again, wriggling his eyebrows.

Didi thought about it and decided to go out with them. It had never been known in the history of her existence that she turned down ice cream and chocolates.

“Fine, get out, I need to change” Didi replied, shooing Luke out of her room.

“Goodness me, I feel like I've been indoors for ages instead of a week” Didi said blinking and looking around excitedly.

They had encountered a fair close to the mall and had decided to wander around to see the goods on sale, but they had ended up spending hours there, ice cream, chocolates, and Axe forgotten. Luke was laden with bags of clothes and nick nacks that the girls had purchased with his credit card, of course.

“Oh look at that” Luke said, passing on some of his load to the girls and heading to a stall.

“This looks fun” Amber said, following suit.

The stall was a virtual reality gaming center and Luke was fascinated, Didi, on the other hand, looked skeptical, but Amber wanted to try it. Luke decided to play first and Didi watched him, laughing at his body movements. When it got to Amber's turn, she kept on screaming ‘HELP’ as she couldn't figure out how to play the game.

“Alright little sis, your turn” Luke said winking at her.

“I'll pass Luke, thank you” she said, moving back from the stall.

“Don't be a chicken, even Amber tried unsuccessfully to play, but I trust you to get the hang of it in no time” Luke replied.

Amber said It wasn't her fault because everything felt so real, and she became scared.

“Didi just try it once, and we'll leave if you hate it” Luke coaxed.

“Okay Luke just to shut you up I'll do it” Didi said. She walked to the stall and approached the owner.

“Hi sir it's my turn, please hook me up to this thing” Didi said to the man in charge of the stall bravely.

The man smiled and nodded and helped her to the chair where he set everything for her.

“Are you ready?” he asked Didi.

“I was born ready” Didi replied, laughing and wondering where her bravado was coming from.

She heard a tune playing and all of a sudden, she was transported into a different world. The game was a race game, and Amber laughed as she saw the character she was playing as and the car.

“Okay girl, let's win this” she said as the game began. She actually got the hang of it like Luke had prophesized, and she was giving them a live commentary in no time.

“Move aside slow poke” she screamed

“Luke, I'm in the fourth position” she gasped

“This dude just totally cheated” she growled

“Wow, these road blocks have got to be illegal. Amber, did you see this” she asked

“Oh no, I crashed my car” she screamed.

The man in charge laughed along with Amber and Luke as her game came to an end.

“That was fun! I want to play again. Luke, pay the man!” she ordered.

At the end of the day, Amber and Luke practically had to drag her away from the stall to the mall to get Ice cream and chocolate.

Didi got home high on sugar and her virtual reality experience thrill. Amber and Luke stayed away from topics concerning relationships and men and focused on how their day went.

“Promise me we'll go tomorrow” she begged Luke yawning tiredly as he stood up to leave later that night.

“Scout's honor” he said, kissing her goodbye and heading out.

“I feel so sleepy and tired. I think I'll spend the night here” Amber said.

“Let's go to bed” Didi replied.

For the first time that week, Didi slept throughout the night without waking up to cry and dreamt of winning international races instead of Axe her ex.

Love failure is one of the worst things in the world, but virtual reality and delicious food and being with the ones we love can really make us feel better.

It sounds like the perfect distraction, no ice cream and chocolate needed. A great brother she has.
