Community Contest #182 - Stress and Un-stress! How do I do It?

avatar
(Edited)

The contest for this week relates to many ladies out there especially to mothers who work.

I am a mother of two lovely daughters (2 and 5 y.old). Both of them are clingy and wants so much attention form me since most of the time, I am not home.

My Stressful Work-Life

I work as an Administrative Staff in DepEd and was assigned to handle 2 schools to do administrative functions: Finance, Supplies, Human Resource and so much more. Its like a one man team. This job do give me stress...and health discomfort.

As I have mentioned in one of my past blogs, there are days where I have only 4 hours of sleep and I know that I will suffer in the future because of this...But I just can't sleep with all those pending paperworks.

I also can't do it while the kids are still awake so I have to tuck them in bed before opening my laptop...

How Do I Handle Job Stress?

I wish I could confidently answer this because I am not sure I am handling it well. But here are the things I do when I am stressed:

  1. I cry. This may sound crazy but yep! I cry. I cry all those heavy feeling I am carrying...It help me "empty the bucket" and after I cry, I feel a bit relaxed.

  2. I talk to my husband about what's stressing me. He gives me advices but most importantly, he gives warm hugs. Sometimes, this is the cue for my tears to roll down my face 😅.

  3. I eat...A LOT. I am a stress eater! I admit. Hands Up! I can never go a day without a heavy meal when I am stressed. I'd go nuts! When I am on field, I try to go to an eat-all-you-can resto...(if I have the finances) or somewhere with good food.

Those are the three things I do to cope up with Job stress. 😅.
How about you?

Do I use my Job as an Excuse for Household Chores?

Do I use my job as an excuse to be free from household chores? Maybe no? My husband and I don't have any proper arrangements on household chores. We do what we can and the other can fill-up the things that the other did not do. This is because I don't see household chores as a heavy burden. Yep, it maybe tiring but it's like my brain says "that's what life is".

But take note: If I am working, I'd rather be in an office where I can concentrate my work...Work from home is nice but I disturb many when I am there. My kids go loco when they know that I am inside the house but ignores them.😅. I told you, they're clingy.

If you're wondering what this is, it's what I have purchased for one of my assigned school. I canvass, I provide purchase order and many more...and then I deliver it to the school. Mind and body- both tired

*Despite all the hardships in this job (life), I still choose to smile...coz I know this is all temporary. And you can't waste that
brows by frowning...right? SMILE! *

So that's it for my answer to the Community Contest (#182). If you're still here, thank you so much for your time.

This is your @mama-ayn. Happy Weekend Everyone and God bless!

thank you so much! I think it's just a matter of choosing to see the joy than the stress. It's just that sometimes, the stress is too much that it covers up the joy within😅.

Taking time for myself is vital. Practicing mindfulness, engaging in hobbies, and connecting with loved ones help me manage stress.
Crying is a great way, I wish I could do more. It's good that you can do that.
BTW, if it's the husband that gives you stress then what do you do? For me, I kill him in my dream. lol

I wish I could engage in a healthy hobby. My hobbies aren't that health engaging. 😫.

And to answer your question, I don't kill him in my dream but I stab him with my sharp eyes. Silent treatment is also a must 🤣.

Hehe, don't worry. Time to time I too become very toxic, shuts down. No one can go healthy all the time.
Yes, yes, I'm all for silent treatment 😁😁

Going without sleep is something to watch. Find a way to let go of daily chores by writing down what needs to be done tomorrow, this might help ease your mind when it comes time to sleep.

Thank you. I have watched a documentary on how our brains shrink and sleep is the only solution for it to come back to its original size. But as for my case, i think I have damaged my brain already 😫.

I'll try your suggestion🙏. Again, thank you so much

Working when children are young is no easy task. I used to/still do have a diary next to me to jot down import things I need to keep up to date, or wake in the middle of the night thinking about it. 🤣

Sleep is as important as eating. So you must give time to the kids, time to sleep, and time to clear work, so that it never consumes your private or family life. Cheers!
