This week's theme fills me with great enthusiasm because as a preschool teacher, being in my second month working with the children, to entertain them I came up with a dynamic called “Never Stop Dreaming Awake”.

This dynamic was that as the ceiling of the room had a sky design with clouds, rainbows and another part was night sky, while I played music in the background, they were going to dream that they were living what they wanted to be when they grew up without any restrictions, that is, if they wanted to dream that they were superheroes they could do it. And after the music ended, everyone was going to comment and listen attentively to what each one dreamed.

I confess that my expectations at the beginning were not so great because I was a little afraid that they were not going to like the dynamics, since it was nothing to run or jump; but the reality totally exceeded expectations because after a few minutes some began to sigh, others to laugh, one of the girls grabbed her pants as if it were a dress and had that genuine smile that I could not help but stare at them excited because they were really enjoying the activity.

After an hour the relaxing music ended and to my surprise none of them stopped daydreaming. They all loved the dynamic so much, they were being happy in their dream world. I left them for another ten minutes and told them it was time to tell those wonderful dreams. The first one was Mariana

Mariana

I was an animal doctor and I took care of all the puppies, kittens, rabbits, horses, lions, elephants, giraffes and seals in the world and I gave them medicine and hugged them to make them feel better, just like my mommy does when I feel sick.

Carlos

I rode a rocket to the moon and saw the stars up close. They were like this (He pointed to the part of the ceiling where there are stars). And there on the moon I played a sandcastle competition with the aliens. They beat me because they built a castle three meters high.

Mario

Teacher I was a superhero and I could fly and give free rides to my friends and I took them to the moon too and because I was a superhero they gave me all the trinkets I wanted. I also beat the villains and helped a lady get her puppy and she gave me a piece of chocolate cake as a prize.

And so each child told their incredible dreams of what they wanted to be when they grew up. Hearing how happy they were to tell me their dreams filled me with so much happiness, that it was actually a dynamic that we did it once a month.

Suddenly in the middle of the laughter and games, a child asked me “Teacher, do adults also daydream, or only children do it?” That question caught me as we Venezuelans say “off base” because I didn't know how to answer him that many times when you grow up you lose that emotion of daydreaming with such unreal events. But I told them the following:

We adults daydream sometimes when we go to sleep. And they are always or almost always with our loved ones living a perfect life as they wish it. So my loves, when you feel down, play this new game.

And that's how everyone learned how much fun it was to daydream.

Yes, they liked it very much. If you have small children at home I recommend you to do it. We all daydream, and anyone who doesn't should. Thanks for reading
