World Water Day // Let's make channels with recycled material to collect rainwater 🌧️💦🌎♻️ [eng/esp]

Today I want to share with you my second project to protect this important resource that nature gives us. All ways of protecting water are important, since without water, life in general would be impossible. One of the best ways to receive this important resource is through rain. That's why today I'm here to present a wonderful idea for collecting rainwater and using it for different purposes. For this project, we'll be using recycled materials. Join me and I'll show you the step-by-step instructions:

Hoy quiero compartir con ustedes mi segundo proyecto para cuidar este importante recurso que nos obsequia la naturaleza , todas las formas de cuidar el agua son importantes, ya que sin agua sería imposible la vida en general, una de la mejor forma de recibir este importante recurso es por medio de la lluvia, es por esto que hoy vengo a presentarles una maravillosa idea para recolectar el agua de lluvia y darle diferentes usos, para este proyecto utilizaremos material de reciclaje, acompáñame y te muestro el paso a paso :

One way to obtain water is through rain, and we can use it for different purposes. We can use this water to water our plants. I personally like it a lot because rainwater has a magical quality about it; it makes plants look beautiful 🪴. We can also use it for our toilet 🚽. Another use is to clean our home or wash our car.

When I collect a lot of rainwater, I also use it for the first fill of my washing machine. After analyzing it, it seems like an excellent idea for those who have pools or ponds at home. I think it could be useful for filling them. The roof of my house is made of zinc sheets, and when it rains, many small streams of water fall. This is why I have long had the idea of ​​making gutters to better collect rainwater and thus be able to use it for all these things. The materials to be used are the following:

• Plastic soda containers
• Scissors, box cutter, knife, or anything that can be used to cut
• Adhesive tape
• Stapler

Una de las formas de obtener agua es por medio de la lluvia y a esta podemos darle diferentes usos, esta Agua nos puede servir para regar nuestras plantas, en lo personal me gusta mucho ya que el agua de lluvia tiene algo mágico, ella hace que las plantas luzcan muy bonitas 🪴, también podemos utilizarla para nuestro inodoro 🚽, otro uso puede ser para limpiar nuestro hogar o lavar nuestro auto.

Cuando recolecto mucha agua de lluvia también la uso en el primer llenado de mi lavadora, y analizando me parece un excelente idea para que aquellos que tienen piscinas o estanques en sus hogares, pienso que pudiera servir para llenarlos, el techo de mi casa es de láminas de zinc y cuando llueve caen muchos chorros pequeños de agua, es por esto que desde hace tiempo he tenido la idea de hacer canales y poder recolectar de una mejor forma el agua de lluvia y así poder usarla para todas estas cosas, los materiales a utilizar son los siguientes:

• Envases plásticos de refresco
• Tijeras, cúter, cuchillo o cualquier cosa que sirva para cortar
• cinta adhesiva
• grapadora

The main thing for this craft is to collect several 2L soda containers, if possible. Since this is my first test of making rain gutters with soda containers, I'm only going to use 4 containers. I spent several days thinking about how to make the shape. At first, I thought about cutting the containers in half vertically and then joining them together. But then I wondered how I was going to hold them to the roof. 🤔

Then I thought about removing the edge of the spout and the bottom and joining them together. I did my first test, and they looked good, but I couldn't get them to fit properly. So, I thought about leaving the end containers with the bottom since it's the thickest part of this plastic. I would also cut the containers in the middle vertically while joining them together so they could fit together. I show you how it should look in my pictures.

Lo principal para esta manualidad es recolectar varios envases de refresco si es posible de 2 l, como esta es mi primera prueba de canales para lluvia con envases de refresco voy a utilizar sólo 4 envases, estuve varios días pensando cómo podría ser la forma ya que al principio pensaba en cortar los envases a la mitad en forma vertical y luego unirlos entre sí, pero luego pensaba cómo los iba a sostener del techo, 🤔

Luego pensé en quitarles la orilla del pico y el fondo y unirlos entre sí, hice mi primera prueba y se veían bien pero no lograba que encajarán bien, así que pensé en dejar los envases de los extremos con el fondo ya que es la parte más gruesa de este plástico, y los envases que van en medio hacerles un corte en forma vertical mientras los uno y así poder encajar envase con envase, en mis imágenes les muestro como debe quedar

For the next step we are going to fix our containers with adhesive tape, we will form a kind of tube with them, after joining them we will make a slot from end to end, the containers that go in the center already have the slot we will continue it and in the bottom part of the containers we will make it only until half, for this I used a knife since the material is quite thick and with scissors it is impossible

Para el siguiente paso vamos a fijar con cinta adhesiva nuestros envases, formaremos como un tubo con ellos, luego de unirlos le haremos una ranura De Extremo a Extremo, los envases que van en el Centro ya tienen la ranura la continuaremos y en la parte del fondo de los envases la haremos sólo hasta la mitad, para esto utilicé un cuchillo ya que el material es bastante grueso y con tijera es imposible

Then we will cut the spout of a container to act as a water outlet. We will try to place it on one side and then open the hole right where the container we cut goes. We can reinforce all the joints of the containers with staples, since the adhesive tape can slowly come off when it gets wet.

Luego vamos a existe la parte del pico de un envase para que sea la salida del agua, trataremos de ubicarlo a un lado y luego le abrimos el orificio justo donde va el envase que cortamos, todas las uniones de los envases las podemos reforzar con grapas ya que la cinta adhesiva al mojarse puede despegarse poco a poco.

With the previous step we already have our water channels ready, now comes the part of testing this experiment, as it is not the rainy season I will try it with a cup of water, first I had to see how I could climb it to be able to place the channels on the roof, (the roof of my house is high), this is the extreme part of this craft, ha ha, I placed a table and a box on top of it and I managed to reach the roof, I fitted my rain channels into the zinc sheets and they fit perfectly, they held very well without any ties.

Con el paso anterior ya tenemos listo nuestros canales para el agua, ahora viene la parte de probar este experimento, como no estamos en temporada de lluvia probaré con una taza de agua, primero tuve que ver cómo me subía para poder colocar los canales en el techo, ( el techo de mi casa es alto), esta es la parte extrema de esta manualidad, ja ja, coloqué una mesa y encima un cajón y logré llegar hasta el techo, fui encajando mis canales para agua de lluvia en las láminas de zinc y encajaron perfectas, se sostuvieron muy bien sin ningún amarre.

And now to finish this project and test how it works I will try to pour a cup of water on the roof and have it run down the gutter, this test was very funny, my youngest daughter accompanied me and while I was pouring the water on her I got all wet, the roof was quite high and it was difficult to pour it over it, then I went to uncover the container and got wet again, ha ha, but I loved the result since it worked perfectly, now I have a new way to collect rainwater 🌧️

Y ahora si para finalizar este proyecto y comprobar de qué funciona trataré de echar una taza de agua en el techo y que corra por el canal, esta prueba fue muy graciosa, mi hija menor me acompañaba y mientras le colocaba el agua me moje toda, el techo me quedaba bastante alto y fue difícil tirarla por encima, luego fui a destapar el envase y me mojé nuevamente, ja ja, pero me encantó el resultado ya que funcionó perfecto, ahora tengo una nueva manera para recolectar agua de lluvia 🌧️
