The last two (maybe) beers from my birthday present. Enjoying a Witbier and a Red ale…

My birthday was in the beginning of July, but there are still beers from my present in my refrigerator. They were about 7-8 beers, but I want to enjoy my special beers when I have some peaceful time, usually in the weekends. This is also a perfect time to write a post about #beersaturday !

Last week I did not write a post, but this doesn’t mean that I didn’t have my beer! Sadly, the extravagant beers are over, but I still have good looking ones.

I decided to grab the witbier!

Blanche De Mikkeller is a beer, brewed by… Mikkeller of course! I first tried a beer by this brewery about 7 years ago when I visited their bar in Seoul and it was tasty. And I cannot remember having any other beer by them… not until now!

It is not a fancy heavily hopped IPA, but it has to be excellent, at least having in mind the name and fame of the brewery.

The color is bright yellow and it looks briliantly in the glass. Foam is thick and fine, also quite long lasting. Overall beer looks like it wants to be consumed… and it doesn’t want to wait anymore.

As I expected, it was perfectly brewed and tastes up to all Belgian standarts. Wheat malt is brilliant for the summer heat and you really don’t need much more…

But… let’s take a look at the second beer!

Bloody Muddy is a Red ale and is brewed by the Bulgarian “Trima & Dvama” brewery. And I know this beet very well, because I was on the opening party of the brewery, which was quite a long time ago, maybe 8 years ago. And this exact beer was on tap back then.

Its story is a bit interesting. The name Bloody Muddy also isn’t picked randomly. The brewers made this beer for the opening party and they brewed it about 3-4 weeks in advance. But it was one of the first “commercial” size batches. Sadly, the beer refused to clear off and was very hazy when we enjoyed it. Apart from that it was excellently tasting.

And this cloudiness was the reason my friends picked this name cor their red ale. Of course, now the beer is crystal clear and beautifully looking, but this didn’t change the name.

In the right lighting you can enjoy the amber color, which shines in a unique manner. And it seems like it begs to be consumed, just like the previous beer. Is there a beer that doesn’t look like it begs to be consumed?

“Trima & Dvama” brewery always pay different artists to draw a unique labels for their beers. The mud monster really looks like the first batch of this beer. And it’s great that they keep this first version of the label, because it reminds everyone of the difficult beginning of the brewery.

Do you prefer wheat traditional Belgian beers or do you want to enjoy a crystal clear Red Ale?

That’s for today! See you soon in another #beersaturday post. Bye!

Ohh, does it mean that their beer is not rampant? Good 7 years ago. Wow. But the name sounds as if there is a mixture of milk in it. 😂
