Vibes web3 music competition wk#22, for this week's theme "70s" I'll be doing a song by Minnie Ripperton "Lovin you". When I saw this week's theme, I was lost because I honestly didn't have any song in mind.
It's not like I don't know any song from the 70s but you know sometimes your brain just happens to factory reset when you need it hahaha.
I'm sure you're curious about why I raise my hands up whenever I do the whistle note, well it's the yawning technique 😂
I got to know about this song from @verbal-d He talked about "Lovin you" by Minnie Ripperton and "Silly" by Denise Williams I was kinda curious so i went on YouTube and my oh my I was blown away (in a good way lol).
The part that caught my attention the most was the whistle note. I've heard several artists do it and yup! it always felt hard and I've never given it a try before until now .

I honestly wanted to challenge myself and do something in music I haven't done before, and here I was taking classes on YouTube on how to do the whistle note thingy. It was a really fun experience for me to learn this but the hard part was how everyone at home found it so annoying 😂. I've been practicing it for a couple of days now and honestly I feel like I'm not ready for it.

Okay, Meya, the "yawning technique" got me laughing but this was an amazing performance.
The high notes were on point and even when I tried doing it, I couldn't go that high maybe because I didn't raise my hands up, LOL.
I think the theme (70s) for this week took us outside our musical comfort and challenged us a bit.
I love that you took this as a challenge and you delivered it well as always.
Please is there any other technique one can use to hit high notes other than raising hands up? LOL. I don't know why it made me laugh even as I'm typing this now. Okay, that's enough Winanda. 🤭

There are certain warm ups you'd have to do before you can attempt the whistle note and you also have to stay hydrated before doing it. But I'm sure if you had raised your hands very well, you would've gotten it right 😂,just kidding.
Yes they're so many other techniques, this is the one I found easier, the other ones were a bit complicated and since I had little time to practice too. You can check YouTube for some tutorials, or I can recommend someone I learn from if you'd like.
