Every square has its own horseman
I say it more as a joke that every square has its horse or horseman because there is a famous meeting place in the capital of the country where I was born that everyone calls where the horse is.
You can say Let's meet near the horse and the meeting place is clear - we talk about Republic Square.
Well, in the Spanish capital, Madrid, maybe you would get lost as there are several horses...
Let's see the first example.
Between the Royal Palace of Madrid and the Royal Theatre, there is a little square/park with statues (whom I used to talk to in some of my previous posts, a long time ago) and magnolia trees. In the middle of that little square, we can see the equestrian monument to Philip IV.
If you would agree to meet your friends "where the horse is", this would be one of the options to go. There are many monuments and emblematic buildings that you can find here, like the Cathedral of Santa María la Real de la Almudena. If you catch the sunset from this place, you are lucky. But even if you come at the moment when the sun has already set, you can appreciate its beauty with a blue canvas in the background.
You can walk a bit further and surround the building of the Royal Theatre, choose to use the subway or explore this part of the city by foot, greet the monument of Isabel II and find your umbrella.
Correct! That is what we did yesterday evening, find our umbrellas as the sky decided to pour on Madrid all the raindrops it contained. At first, it was just a drizzle...
In those conditions, you can also spot a street vendor of roasted chestnuts and buy one portion of this treat. Especially if you like them and you met (not where the first horse) some friends, Hive friends, who have never tried chestnuts.
I was so happy to explain to them about this tasty goody... that chestnuts ripen in the autumn and are roasted in the streets during the winter.
Our friends felt the benefits of having some roasted chestnuts yesterday evening - they were tasty and warmed up their hands.
But I had to do a little demonstration on how to peel chestnuts and reach the edible part...
Something like before and after. 😂
Oh, but I have to get back to the topic of horses. Yes.
So, the next horseman that could be a good place to meet with some friends is located in the Plaza Mayor.
However, great confusion could come from the name of the person who was riding this horse... He was also a Philip. 😳
Here, in Plaza Mayor, we talk about the Statue of Philip III.
We were fortunate, I tell you. I didn't have to meet my friends at any of the "Philip with the horse" monuments and get lost, since we stayed at the same hotel and came downtown together to walk. We were also lucky to bring an umbrella, as here in Puerta del Sol, while we were in front of the Equestrian Statue of Carlos III the rain became much more intense.
That intense that we had to run and find a place to hide, to have a drink and eat something. That is how we found this little but full bar, Taberna Melibea. It had a great ambience.
We had just some simple dishes that we shared (croquettes and potatoes) but it was excellent to warm up and talk with @jesuslnrs and @jhoxiris.
They both are beautiful, honest and lovely people... we indeed had a good vibe and a lot of fun.
The rain didn't stop so we had to think about the best option to get back to the hotel. Uber.
We waited for our vehicle for at least 15 minutes on the street (maybe we had to sing in the rain 😁) as there was a nice traffic jam in the centre of Madrid. Once in the car, we were calmer until we didn't realize that the driver was not really sure how to find the hotel 😳.
We will blame the rain and these blurred views... Anyway, we arrived safely at our destination and warmed up, dried our clothes and continued the Hive meeting in the hotel lobby.
For today we had plans but all failed. The rain didn't stop so we stayed for the whole time in the hotel, chitchatting, having coffee, exchanging some little gifts and getting ready to leave the capital and this pleasant little Hive meetup that happened.
I hope that Jesús and Jhoxiris had a good time with us and liked the whole tour in Spain.
And the weather! 😜

It must have been an amazing experience @mipiano. As funny as it might sound, I am hearing about chestnut for the first time ever. I certainly will love to try some out someday. Hope the meeting went on well?
Many people haven't heard about roasted chestnuts, it seems that they are not popular everywhere, just in Europe, East Asia and New York City (according to Wikipedia.
Yes, thanks, the meeting went very well 😇
You are right about that @mipiano, they are certainly not known in this part of the world...
Despite the rain it seems to have been a nice meeting.
Lots of horses, Felipes, Isabel and Carlos 🤣. Imposing illuminated buildings, rain and people walking under it, I love Madrid. Lindas fotos!!
Here in Havana there are also several horses...and riders 🤭.
Castañas asadas! 😋😆
Hahaha, yes, many horses and Felipes. So in Havana too? Ok, let's meet where the horse is, I will bring some kindness rocks and roasted chestnuts too 😁
See you at the Quixote Park in Vedado. 😁 Esperemos que no esté lloviendo. 😂
habrá que llavar una umbrella, just in case ;)
Igual podemos caminar bajo la lluvia, with the heat here, cooling off with a little drizzle doesn't hurt. 😆

Bella idea!!

Cada aventura es mas excitante cuando comienza a llover. Everything become crazy, plans changes but is more fan... thanks you for the pictures of the statues... that bue sky is incredible
Sí, con la lluvia se pone la cosa más crazy 😁 pero bien, son momentos para recordar 😉
What a nice meeting! Beyond the rain... that matters they spent it well and that is the only thing that matters... if you left me thinking that where there is a horse here... seguire thinking about it... where .... where...
Beautiful all four of you!!!
No horses in your city? Well, I don't know about monuments but I do know where there are real horses with carriages. I saw them last year 😉
It's true! Real horses... that's a beautiful place!
That's how I will be when I get into my carriage!😍
@mipiano Hello friend, I did not go to the walk but I was transported with your beautiful photos, even with the rain I think your walk was very nice, the important thing that you had a good time with your friends.
I agree. Our plans had to change but in the end, what matters is that we had a good time together. Thank you @lanoican :))
Lovely to meet fellow hiveans - looks like you had a great time despite the rain @mipiano
It seems that the rain will now make this little meeting more memorable 😃
Great of you to drive all the way to Madrid to meet jesuslnrs and jhoxiris.
No bad weather can beat the friendship and bonds forged on this Blockchain.
✨🌞
Yes, it was a bit of a long trip there and back, but we are glad we went 😉
🌞⛈🌨💨🌪🌈
Lovely and classic place
I also think it is
Aww I love this post! I’m very happy for all of you, finally together!! ❤️🤗
It was a nice meeting, solo que faltaban unos Hivers del norte para que sea más completo 😋
Beautiful photos of Madrid at night. Near the Opera metro, I guess for a music lover, you can't visit Madrid without seeing the Teatro Real. As a curiosity, chestnuts are a traditional hand-warmer. Not so many years ago, they were sold by the "castañeras" (chestnut sellers) who, together with their charcoal stoves, formed one of the typical images of Madrid in winter. Greetings
Yes, roasted chestnuts are perfect hand warmers 😁 Last winter we enjoyed them in other cities too when we were travelling a bit. And in Portugal, they make them in a salty version.
I hope to be able to try the ones from Portugal someday, although taking vacation days in the winter here is complicated for me. Greetings
Luckily, it is already spring ;)
Yes, it's almost spring, best regards
🤗 Happy Caturday 😎
Dear friends @mipiano and @ph1102. I know it's a little late to answer, but it was necessary. The joy I felt the day I met you is indescribable, because even though we had been talking about it for months, it seemed impossible to meet. I still regret not having spent the second full day with you, it really saddens me a little, but it does not compare to the time we spent together, because although it was only a few hours that moment was one of the most significant in my life because I consider you true friends and because I know the great effort that was behind this reunion. Not all people do something like what you did for me and I hope God and life will allow me to give you back so much love. I loved you before I met you, but for some strange reason I love you even more now...
Thank you for your company and it was a pleasure to spend a day with you and @Jhoxiris! I hope we will repeat it someday again... In Venezuela, in Spain, or in some other place!
The Universe is on our side as the start got aligned for you to come to Spain! 😍
My answer is also coming late, so don't you worry 😇
Thank you for all your words, we are really glad to come to Madrid and meet you and Jhoxi in person 😇🤗🕊️
For some reason when I meet with friends we always agree to do it in front of a church but seeing the majestic architecture of Spain, it is better to do it in front of a horse 🤣.
I want chestnuts too 😅😆. @mipiano
Churches are also a good meeting place, but I think there are also plenty of churches, so the question is which one 😂
🤭😬😜
