Benefits of My New Job

There are jobs and there are jobs. Such jobs where you at liberty to take either tea with milk and honey or coffee with milk and honey in morning as you resume is nice, isn't it. When I got my first job after school some twenty years ago, I was so happy and did all I could to keep the job. Then, I was young and had no responsibility. There was no rent to pay as I was still living with my parents. Even the food I ate was free. My dad made sure we had everything. Despite all that, the pay was just about #2,500. Yeah!! Funny, right? Back in the day, that amount of money can do a lot of things.

Though I was inexperienced, I could not ask any questions. There was no pay slip, and no pension scheme for all employees, all that was available was a salary that was referred to as a total package. This job came with other opportunities. Employees were allowed to make their own money after work which usually surpasses the salary. Sometimes, just one deal could earn you ten times your monthly salary. After serving for twenty years, I decided to quit. I got a mouth-watering offer. The following paragraphs will tell you why I couldn't resist the new offer despite that I have been in the other job for over twenty years.

HEALTH INSURANCE SCHEME

After the interview session and being offered the job, one of the many things I got was a health scheme for myself and at least five of my family members. The first has an arrangement with one of the best hospitals in Lagos. Though no one prays to be sick, the availability of such a scheme keeps you away from the hassle of seeking medical care with public health institutions and their many problems.

INTERNET FACILITY AND A LAPTOP

Upon resuming at the office, my desk was furnished with a laptop and internet facility free of charge. Even though it is meant to carry out official duties, it still helps in doing some personal stuff. Before now, I had engaged in training to register business and non-governmental organizations where they will be getting Corporate Affairs Commission Certificates for operations. The laptop and internet have made it more effective carrying out side hustle.

ACCOMMODATION

We all know or must have heard about the many troubles of getting comfortable accommodation in Lagos. When you get a mouth-watering job in this city with an added advantage of accommodation, then you must count yourself lucky.
Aside from the fact that my current job pays well and makes working materials accessible, it comes with a two-bedroom apartment in a conducive part of Lagos. What more can I ask for?

PENSION SCHEME

Have you imagined working for donkey year's and seeing later that your bones came carry you like before? Then, a job without a pension arrangement in place for employees is a death trap.
My new job comes with a robust pension scheme arrangement with a well-known pension administrator. Hence, when I see my savings in the scheme, I rest assured that I would not have to run from pillar to pole seeking assistance when I retire from active duty. This is one aspect of our jobs we must all look out for. The future is here and we must begin to secure it. The pension scheme is one way to secure the future. With that in place, employees will work their heart for the organization.
