Faceless, invisible people. / Monomad Challenge [Eng/Esp]
Greetings, dear friends of #blackandwhite, my best wishes for everyone's well-being. I've had an idea running around in my head for days now, or rather a phrase: faceless people, invisible people. In my photographic tours I have noticed a kind of parallel universes, yes, like those of Marvel, people in the street carrying their life dynamics in a remarkable way and others in a kind of anonymity, not wanting to be noticed, or perhaps that no one sees them. That's what the photos I share with you below are about.
The photos are my entry to the #monomad contest from @monochromes and @brumest.
I tried to interpret what could be going through this child's mind, there in the crowd, his face is an open book, he watches from a distance, he thinks, but no one sees him.
Workers at the port of Havana, about to go home, good people looking for daily sustenance to take home to their families. I was struck by the fact that, although there were many of them there, they were practically nobody. Literally, not even passersby turned their faces to look; they were invisible.
I'm not lying to you, I'm pretty bad at naming my photos, but, on this occasion, the words weren't hidden, their faces were shouting them out loud.
And I tell you: there are those who use invisibility as a strategy, and more so in Cuba, where I move around without being seen and it is profitable in the short term, but I ask myself: what about the long term? Where are we going? Will we get there?
If there is one thing I have learned with street photography is observation, it is a school par excellence. After so much searching or rather observing, I find these two people wanting to be visible, but without results.
At the end of the story I ended up being the one who did not want to be noticed, to have that layer of invisibility to understand from a distance these everyday actors of my city.
I hope friends that you liked the pictures and you can leave me your comments; if you wish, I will be happy to read them. See you soon, until next time.
