Hello wonderful hivers, hope y’all are having a good day. I love this week’s engagement topic. It was a debating topic between I and a friend that stays abroad. In this write-up, I want to discuss the reason why I prefer African dishes over Western dishes.

First of all food is a substance consumed for nourishment, energy, growth and provision of essential nutrients for the body. I eat both African and western dishes on a daily basis and they all tastes nice but i prefer the African dishes over the western dishes. I’m so excited writing about African food because i’m a proud African. It could have been the other way around if I was raised in the western culture I would automatically prefer the western food no matter how appetizing the local meals might look.

One of the reasons i love African food is because of the recipes used in cooking them. These recipes are natural and nutritional which make them best for consumption ranging from different leaves to vegetables. These ingredients are not processed in any other way. They are always fresh. From the protein-rich egusi soup to the palatable edikang-ikong soup eaten in akwa-ibom, these foods offer a healthy and nutritious experience.

Another reason is that we prepare our food in a specific and unique way, which makes it look appetizing and sweet. We prepare most of our dishes in the locally.
Considering the taste of African foods, I'd choose the African food over Western food because the local foods are more tasty, spicy and delicious.

In Africa, we have different countries with different culture and tribe, and every culture have their different and unique way of preparing their food.
I am a citizen of Nigeria located in the western part of Africa. Nigeria is indeed a beautiful place were you can find various African dishes.

We have different cultures with their specific and distinctive dishes. They Include ;The Igbos, The Hausas, The Yoruba's and The Ibibio's. The Igbos prepare food like Abacha, akpu, Isi-ewu, nkwobi, ogbono soup. The Yoruba's prepare food like Amala and ewedu, Efo riro, Gbegiri. The Hausas prepare food like Masa, Tuwo shinkafa, Mia kerkeshi. The Ibibio's prepare food like EkpangNkukwo, Afang, Edikang ikong. We also have lots of other unique delicacies like the Jollof rice, Akara also known as beans cake, coconut rice, pounded yam and egusi.

I’m from Akwa-ibom state in Nigeria. In my state we have various sweet delicacies ranging from soups to porridges but i love eating soups because they are palatable. We have soups like Afang soup, editan soup, Edikangikong soup and lots more.

African foods can be eaten anywhere, at home, social gatherings like wedding, burials and official ceremonies.
If possible, I am looking forward to eating all the types of African dishes from different states in Nigeria. Smiles

Thanks for reading...

I am @mummygo

I'm wondering how many western cuisines you know and how many western dishes you tasted, made in their home country.
