Hive Music Festival Week 121 - Round 1 // Toxicity (Bass Cover) By @musicandreview
I think the song I will share today needs no introduction, those who see the name will surely recognize it immediately. “Toxicity” by the Armenian-American band System of a Down caused a big stir in the early 2000's for its disruptive lyrics and social criticism, and well, actually most of the songs by this band are like that and that's why they have the appreciation of millions of fans around the world. I got to know this band thanks to a very precious cousin, but also thanks to MTV because they kept playing their videos which, although they are pretty heavy music, they still fit in the spectrum of commercial music.
Playing this song was a big challenge since it is quite fast in some parts and because I have a small injury in my left wrist that doesn't allow me to move easily, so I had to practice it many times until I got used to the fast dynamics of the song and to get a decent result. There are many songs of this band that provoke me to play, but not all of them are easy, as I already mentioned, the high speed of some of their songs would force me to practice a lot or to play with a straw, which I don't rule out doing in some of my covers.
Creo que la canción que compartiré hoy no necesita ningún tipo de presentación, quienes vean el nombre de seguro la reconocerán inmediatamente. “Toxicity” de la banda armenio-estadounidense System of a Down causó un gran revuelo a inicio de los años 2000 por su letra disruptiva y crítica social, y bueno, en realidad la mayoría de las canciones de ésta banda son así y por eso tienen el aprecio de millones de fanáticos alrededor del mundo. Yo conocí ésta banda gracias a un primo muy preciado, pero también gracias a MTV ya que no dejaban de reproducir sus videos que, aunque son de música bastante pesada, no dejaban de encajar en el espectro de la música comercial.
Tocar ésta canción fue un gran reto ya que es bastante rápida en algunos tramos y porque tengo una pequeña lesión en mi muñeca izquierda que no me permite moverme con facilidad, así que tuve que practicarla muchas veces hasta acostumbrarme a la dinámica rápida de la canción y para que el resultado fuera decente. Son muchas las canciones de ésta banda que me provocan tocar, pero no todas son fáciles, como ya mencioné, la alta velocidad de algunas de sus canciones me obligaría a practicar mucho o a tocar con una pajuela, cosa que no descarto hacer el algunos de mis covers.

To record this bass cover I downloaded the song from the band's official Youtube channel, then, I used the Moises application to remove the original bass line, that way I could record a completely clean line. I applied a couple of effects to give prominence to the bass since it is obviously the central element in my performances, but I tried not to overdo it in modifying the original sound previously recorded. I hope my presentation this week is to everyone's liking, I really like to humbly share my bass covers with the community, best regards!
Para grabar éste cover de bajo descargué la canción del canal oficial de Youtube de la banda, luego, usé la aplicación Moises para eliminar la línea de bajo original, de esa forma pude grabar una línea completamente limpia. Apliqué un par de efectos para dar protagonismo al bajo ya que evidentemente es el elemento central en mis presentaciones, pero traté de no exagerar en modificar el sonido original previamente grabado. Espero que mi presentación de ésta semana sea del agrado de todos, de verdad me gusta compartir humildemente mis covers de bajo con la comunidad. ¡Un fuerte abrazo!

Esto si fue un desbloqueo de recuerdos nivel legendario. Me encantaba escuchar System, Papa Roach, Linkin Park, Korn entre otras. Esos tiempos de MTV eran lo máximo. Te felicito por este increible performance. Este tema genera una adrenalina increible.

Bro. Este es un temazooo. Recuerdo la pri. Era vez que escuché sistema, me burlaba porque era muy loco y tal, no se le entendía la letra y vaya que otras tonterías, muchacho no es gente. Pero luego cuando uno pasa los 20 años, se da cuenta de lo tremendas que son estas bandas. Son demasiado geniales.
Por cierto, me encanta el sonido de los yamaha, hay quienes dicen que todos suenan igual, pero que va. Comparar un inabez con un yamaha, están locos. El peso del yamaha es espectacular, pero si de todo se trata, slap, tap e incluso para puntear el Warwick creo que es el sueño de muchos de nosotros. Aunque el modelo BB que usa sheehan es de otro nivel.

Creo que todos nos vamos dando cuenta con los años que esas bandas eran más que un espectáculo, también tienen buen contenido en sus letras y por eso han perdurado en el tiempo.
A mi me gusta el sonido de Yamaha ya que es más para el género rock que es precisamente lo que más practico, y bueno, también agrego discretamente algunos efectos dependiendo de la canción.
